I am putting this here because it's not an attention whore thread and I only really want the serious sports fans to see this...
During the 2004 playoffs, someone at the Red Sox message board that I frequent (sonsofsamhorn.net) started a thread called 'Win It For'...
Basically it was a thread where each post started with 'Win It For...' and people talked about relatives and conveyed stories about how much the Red Sox finally winning the WS would mean to generations of New England families...
Anyway, the thread became a phenomenon because of the outpouring of pure emotion and sentiment by the people posting, and was featured on national news segments, the New York Times, national sports cable channels and the like...
So after the WS, the thread got made into a book...http://www.amazon.com/Win-Championsh...e=UTF8&s=books
Not every post from the original thread was included, but mine was.
That was cool enough in itself.
I just found out that the Baseball Hall Of Fame is going to include a bound copy of the original thread into its perminant collection.
I am speechless. After the week I have had (and am still having) this news is brightening my day.
Call me an attention whore if you want, but I think that I am friendly enough with many of you here that you would want to know.
