How all of this could've been avoided

One major aspect of the Democratic party that caused me to change my voter registration was the lack of personal responsiblity in their thinking overall.

In my opinion, the worst part of any politicians mindset is when they try to convince people that what's happened to them is someone else's fault. Much like attorneys.

This is also what makes Mr. Bush NOT a true conservative to most Republicans because he fails to admit personal responsiblity.

So...let's add some personal responsiblity to Mr. Kerry's latest tongue-fuckup and see how this could've all been avoided.

    Mr Kerry said:
“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

    Well......he could've said:
“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, Mr. Bush will try to stick you in Iraq.”

    or
“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. Mr. Bush would like to convince you that enlisting in the military is an option because Mr. Bush would like to stick you in Iraq.”

    or
“With Mr. Bush's failed education policies, even though you're told, to you make the most of it, study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. But he'd rather stick you in Iraq.”

Like it or not folks, Kerry could've made his "joke" clear. But instead he said what he said and just like Bush is refusing to accept responsiblity for his actions.

The BCE and the mediawhores are taking this completely out of context and spinning it just like the "Dean scream".

And Judas IsKerryot isn't even on the ballot.

If you listen to the whole speech in context, it's obvious that he's referring to Chimpy.

No its not, and judging by the responses he's getting from Veteran's organizations they heard the same speech that the rest of America heard too!

Swift Boat Liars For Rove (or whatever name they're calling themselves this week) aren't a veterans organization, they're a tool of BCE propaganda.

American Legion to Sen. Kerry: Apologize Now

                    10/31/2006 1:49:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The National Commander of The American Legion called on Sen. John Kerry to apologize for suggesting that American troops in Iraq are uneducated.

"As a constituent of Senator Kerry's I am disappointed. As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged," said National Commander Paul A. Morin. "A generation ago, Sen. Kerry slandered his comrades in Vietnam by saying that they were rapists and murderers. It wasn't true then and his warped view of today's heroes isn't true now."

While addressing a group of college students at a campaign rally in Pasadena, CA., Monday, Kerry suggested that they receive an education or "if you don't, you'll get stuck in Iraq."

"While The American Legion shares the senator's appreciation for education, the troops in Iraq represent the most sophisticated, technologically superior military that the world has ever seen," Morin said. "I think there is a thing or two that they could teach most college professors and campus elitists about the way the world works.

"And while we are on the topic of education, why doesn't the senator and his comrades in Congress improve the GI Bill so all of today's military members - reserves and guard included - can achieve the educational aspirations that the senator so highly values?" Morin said. "The senator's false and outrageous attack was over-the-top and he should apologize now."

FLASH: McCain Calls On Kerry To Apologize
                      Tue Oct 31 2006 11:43:14 ET

Senator Kerry owes an apology to the many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country's call because they are patriots and not because of any deficiencies in their education. Americans from all backgrounds, well off and less fortunate, with high school diplomas and graduate degrees, take seriously their duty to our country, and risk their lives today to defend the rest of us in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.

They all deserve our respect and deepest gratitude for their service. The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq, is an insult to every soldier serving in combat, and should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night. Without them, we wouldn't live in a country where people securely possess all their God-given rights, including the right to express insensitive, ill-considered and uninformed remarks.

                      END

I suppose this "baby killer" and "rapist" is wrong too?

                      WTF did YOU hear?

Ford, my point is that he made a fuck-up by not actually saying Bush's name. It wouldn't have been hard to just make it clear that he was referring to Bush.

But I honestly bleieve that the long lost Pet Shop Boy is one of those rich people who thinks that the military preys on the poor and uneducated in this country. Just like Belzer in the other thread.

                        I really believe that.

But if I'm wrong, his tongue trip is just as bad as one of the millions that Bush is guilty of...and then to refuse to apologize until today makes him even MORE like Bush.

Careful there. Critical thinking like that is sure to get you branded as a political nutjob.

For politicians the right to point fingers and lay blame must be protected at all costs!

In his time (vietnam) that was often the case. I think he was trying to tease out the spectre of the draft returning.

In the ages of the draft people who weren't in school were often cannon fodder. That's much less the case with an all volunteer army. There is an argument to made that the erosion of manufacturing jobs do leave the military as the best option for many who lack a college education (medical pay, steady paycheck, all that). However, it's certainly not the only option for the undereducated. Also, (I believe) there us a much larger percentage of educated people in todays military as well.
