2007 Tour Line up goes out to Promotors...

    Got this from vhlinks..................

The band & management have been shopping a tour for the past month or so with Wolfie, David, Eddie and Alex as the new group, but promotors are balking at the asking price of $1 Million a night and the fact that it is not a complete reuion package without Mike. They have been advized to take the Wolfie reuion package overseas (Japan & Europe) to see if it would generate more interest here in the US.

Same price asked for the Hagar 04 tour.

Probably bullshit, but easy to see where that could play out as a real life scenario.

It's gonna take all four to get the promoters salivating. Wolfie ain't gonna cut it, business-wise, in the way that the original lineup would.

But these guys gotta get a move on. They're all either in or closing in on their fifties. Last time they toured together they were in their twenties. Think about the age of their core audience in the 70s and 80s - think about how many people then are now in their late 30s, and 40s and 50s.

Fritter away another half decade or decade. It's gonna look silly and the mass interest will have plunged even more. Sure, diehards like us will want to see it, but how many people who would have really wanted to see this ten years ago probably don't give a shit now?

Promoters are going to be very hesitant after 2004, and rightfully so. 2004 proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that only Classic Van Halen (meaning ALL four of them) is a sure-fire sell.

On top of that, it probably IS bullshit...still, the point remains.

If this is true, hopefully it was the reality slap that Ed needs.

I wonder if they are balking because its not Mike? or because it is Wolfie?

But with Wolfie in the band, Eddie won't have to pay him and can keep a bigger chunk of the money.

It's all Dave's fault anyways. He should have never suggested that they use Eddie & Alex's last name for the band name. By doing that, he basically gave them the control over the band name.

Yeah, but on the same twist....

EVH/AVH & Wolfie are NOT "VAN HALEN" with or without carrying the namesake.

To the original fans, none of us will see these guys as their namesake, unless it includes ROTH and now Bassplayer.....actually it was a brilliant move for ROTH to name the band. I've always thought ROTH was a marketing genius.

Perhaps EVH's new "Porn" publicist/girlfriend should help reshape their band, calling it something like "Poking Loon Trio"

If all four original members are on the bill, they will get all the dough. The Wolfie thing is a bad idea though, and I'll bet he's not as good on the bass As Ed makes out. I do hope Dave grows out his hair a little and loses the Neil Diamond look. Please Dave, no bleach this time.

Bottom line is this, Ed needs to lay off the booze for this tour to be a true success. You know Dave will be ready, and in in tip top shape.

I am psyched. I think it's finally going to happen, and I can't wait to see it. I think it's going to kick more ass than most expect. Can you believe it's been 23 years? Unreal.

Ed is definately blinded by the fact that Wolf is his son. Not to mention the booze and drugs.

If the kid can't play, Dave needs to do what he has always done with Ed and tell him "no".

Ed has had enough "yes" men around him for the last 23 years.

                      This came from the links?

Bullshit meter is going off loud and clear!

Dave has already said that its the 4 or nothing.

If they had some new product to shop they wouldn't have a hard time getting a mil a night.

1 Mill per night is less than the US festival payout. But the era of 300,000+ shows is over. With all 4 original members, and the right marketing, they could probably still sell out a stadium in a few select cities. Los Angeles for starters.

Dave will not support a VH band with a 15-16 year old playing bass.

                          This is BS.

For all we know, Wolfie probably played bass on a few new tracks, nothing more.

                          He won't tour.

What about the legality of it? Since he is not 18, wouldn't he be unable to be a part of any contract?

On second though, I always forget about bands like Hanson.

Well, I'm going with Wolf (and I HATE calling him Wolf*e!) playing bass on Dad's solo album with Uncle Al and Mike being back for the tour - no new music, but maybe a CVH live DVD/CD from the '84 tour, maybe remastering the unreleased songs and demos for an official release, and then goodbye...

Preferentially, that's where I'd like to see all this land at.
