    Casino Royale kicked fucking ass!!!

I always have said I preferred Sean Connery, because he did not fuck around...he was a ruthless killer motherfucker that killed the fuck out of anyone who attacked him....while Roger Moore was more concerned with not getting his hair messed up, or his $1,000 Brooks Brothers suit ruffled.

Daniel Craig is Bond. I have no fucking complaints about the film at all.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, with no inkling whatsoever what was going to happen next.

I read a droolfest of a review where they said the movie was 2 hours and 20 minutes long.....WTF? It sure did not seem that long to me!

As a matter of fact, when the end of the movie showed up, I was kind of surprised....

I give this high praise for a James Bond film.

I thought the final Pierce Brosnan film with Halle Berry was the best Bond film I had seen in over 20 years, but this one makes it suck fucking ass in comparison!!!

This Bond is a bit more serious, but he has just been given his license to kill, and makes a few mistakes here and there. He does not quite have all the bases covered so to speak in knowing what to look out for......

Even if you don't particularly care for Bond films, if you like action movies at all, you MUST SEE THIS FILM!

Lotsa stunts that were pretty astonishing.

I give it two thumbs up!

    Eva Green is HOT!!!!

Do yourself a favor H69 and read the Ian Flemming books. Connery was the best bond because he was much closer to the bond in the novels, which were much more realistic.

This guy Craig seems to be a winner though, I've yet to hear anything negative about the film...

We went and saw it Friday night and it's definitely the best in years. None of the stupid gadgetsa and very much a believable espionage story. The poker scenes could have been cut a little and the ending drug out too long, but it's hard to talk about without revealing too much.

It was cool to hear him invent his martini lines and get his first Aston Martin. Not sure why they kept Judith Dench as M because that does screw up the continuity of the movies, and John Cleese is out now as Q's replacement.

And they definitely could have given more time to the villain's blonde girlfriend. I thought she was the hottest one in this one!

Yep, this is an actual Ian Fleming novel tho. The Bond character was introduced in the original Casino Royale, with Peter Sellers. That one was done as a spy spoof comedy, but this one's the real deal. You get to witness his first kill and several other notable things. Hard to say how, but it does show how his life was shaped.

            great movie

Casino Royale was very well done. The movie was great as a stand alone film.... but there were some story holes for being the first Bond story.... bond looked like he was close to 40.
I like Daniel Craig but he just doesn't have the Bond look. He looks more like Pete Townsend! Great movie! but i wish Pierce Brosnan did a finale movie.
They should have found an unknown to play Bond

It was a back to the basics bond movie and there was a hell of a lot of plot twists and a hideous looking villain. Loved it!

                Really?

I watched it again last week and hated it again.

                An invisible fucking car?

                Terrible CGI.

                $120million in product placements.

It could have been the last Bond film because it was just so bad. No wonder they've gone back to basics.

Agreed that this was one of the BEST fucking Bond films in a LONG time!

The whole crane sequence in he beginning was fucking insane.

No CGI, just good old fashioned stunt men.

                      GO SEE THIS FILM NOW!!!!

Hey Nick, I first read all the James Bomb novels in the early 70s.

                        Well, not exactly.

This from Wikipedia about the 1954 TV adaptation of "Casino Royale":

                        The 1954 television episode

In 1954, producer and director Gregory Ratoff of CBS paid Ian Fleming $1,000 to adapt Casino Royale into a one-hour television adventure as part of their Climax! series. Additionally, CBS in the late 50's made an offer to Fleming to write 32 episodes over a two-year period for a television show based on the James Bond character. Fleming agreed and began to write outlines for this series. When nothing ever came of this, however, Fleming grouped and adapted three of the outlines into short stories and released the 1960 anthology For Your Eyes Only along with an additional two new short stories.

The episode, Casino Royale, aired on October 21, 1954 and starred Barry Nelson as secret agent "Card Sense" James 'Jimmy' Bond and Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre. For this Americanised version of the story, Bond is an agent for "Combined Intelligence," while the character Felix Leiter from the original novel became "Clarence Leiter," an agent for Station S, and a combination of Leiter and Rene Mathis. The name "Mathis" was given to the leading lady, who is named Valerie Mathis (instead of Vesper Lynd).

This was the first screen adaptation of a James Bond novel, and was made before EON acquired the Bond film rights (actually, before there even was an EON Productions). When MGM eventually obtained the rights to the 1967 film version of Casino Royale, it also received the rights to this television episode.

The hour long showing itself is split into three acts:

                        * Act I: Opening -- Opening of Baccarat scene
                        * Act II: Opening of Baccarat Scene -- Hotel Room finale Opening
                        * Act III: Hotel Room finale Opening -- Ending

According to Lee Pfeiffer[1], a well known James Bond expert, the Casino Royale TV-film was lost for decades after its first broadcast on 21st October 1954. It was not until early 1980s that the show was finally found and put on VHS release (there was also a one-time appearance on TBS). However, such release (that was later included as a bonus feature to the DVD of the 1967 Casino Royale film) and the airing on TBS did not include the full finale of the adaptation, which were at that point lost. It was found later on and included on a Spy Guise & Cara Entertainment VHS release. That release is the only one to date which includes the full finale that was last scene on the original broadcast, although as Lee Pfeiffer points out, the very last few seconds of the ending credits are still missing. As of to-day, no DVD release of the complete version has been publicly announced.

All incomplete versions, as mentioned above, have the show ending with Bond confronting Le Chiffre and telling Valerie to go call the police. The complete ending has Le Chiffre grabbing Valerie and holding her captive with a razor, while slowly moving out of the room. Bond takes the chance to shoot him. It then ends with Bond and Valerie in embrace, a few words from host William Lundigan, and the credits.

There is an urban legend that Peter Lorre, "killed" in Act 3, stood up and walked off camera during the broadcast. In fact, this actually occurred during an earlier episode of Climax!, during an adaptation of Raymond Chandler's The Long Goodbye; the event was widely covered in the media of the day.

I thought it was great movie.

It dragged in some spots where some editing could have been done, but Craig did an awesome job as Bond.

He's very cool, yet ruthless at the same time.

That to me is CLASSIC Bond.

But I did think he looked a bit ragged and old to play the role at times (I mean, he's almost 40 -- 38 to be exact) for this to be a prequel-Bond film.

Other than that, I give it four stars out of five.
