    Richie Blackmore...what happened?

    Blackmore's Night takes another putrid tumble...What a JOKE!

    BLACKMORE'S NIGHT's new holiday album, Winter Carols, has entered the Billboard New Age Chart at #7. Candice Night commented about the album recently: "The holiday season has always embodied joy, love, peace, togetherness. The sentiments of the holidays are what we try to express in our music." Ritchie Blackmore (ex-DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW) adds: "The origin of the word carol means 'dance' back in the mid 1500s. Most of the Christmas Carols are from the 1400s, 1500s, 1600s. They are brilliant melodies. I am naturally attracted to these melodies - as a kid of 10, 11, 12, I would go from house to house during the holiday time and sing them just to earn some money. Now, as an adult, I thought I could play them and make more money."

                                      There was one interesting story that got reported a while back, with Blackmore's Night playing at some castle or another. Candice Night went into some speech about "Once upon a time, there was a magical forest which was guarded by a beautiful rainbow, but the rainbow had an evil elf that tried to take it over..." blah blah blah. The audience started booing because of the obvious derogatory Ronnie Dio reference...lol...apparently she shut up pretty quickly and they just went right into Sixteenth Century Greensleeves...

                                      In any regards, Blackmore's not going to do anything worth listening to anytime soon. He's stated in numerous interviews that he has no interest in Rainbow or Deep Purple music anymore, and he couldn't get back into it even if he wanted to.

                                      Additionally, I'd imagine banging Candice Night is probably much more gratifying than arguing with Ian Gillan on a nightly basis.

                                              well, Blackmore is apparently fed up of doing rock music....

                                              he's even fed up of people asking him about Deep Purple....that's what I read in a guitar magazine interview anyway....

                                              he's just doing what he wants, even if I don't agree with it.....but I would love to see him break out with the strat again....
