Was going through my collection of old Fender catalogues and came across a cupla weird models. These are the Fender Japaneze Models, when they had an entirely different and separate line. Wish my scanner were still up and running so I could post the pics but check out these weirdeez!!!
First, I dunno if it's 1986 or 1987 cos the catalogues are almost identical and again, it's NOTHING but Fender's Japaneze line of guitars. K, the first one is the "Katana" model. Her's what came up on Google's image search...
Goofy lookin' fucker isn't it and was obviously NOT a hit. lmao
They also made a matching bass.
Now for the other one that either replaced that "Katana" or they made a year prior? Dunno for sure cos there's no date on either catalogue? I'm just going from memory and I remember they're both/either '86 or '87 cos I bought one of the "Jap Strats" for the body to build my "Frankie" replica in 1987.
K, this second one (they also made a bass) was called the "Performer" and it's both as goofy and ugly as one can get. Unfortunately, images are extremely limited on the net. I could find only this pic.
Anyhoo, just thought I'd share and see if anyone else had something to share?
