John McCain is supposedly moving to the new rich condos in the Biltmore area. Some speculate that's a sign that he's running in '08. I hope he's not budgeting a new salary in advance.

I guess discuss (again) if you think he'd win Presidency.

Excellent thread, Steve.

I hope we have the bandwidth to handle it.

Suppose it's possible. He's really the only one in the GOP that has a realistic chance right now, as I see it.

I wouldn't vote for him, though. Has nothing to do with the party he's in, either.

UPDATE - 09/95 by the P.O.W. NETWORK, Skidmore, MO

"I had a lot of time to think and I came to the conclusion that one of the
most important things in life - along with a man's family - is to make
some contribution to his country."

This is an old quote from John McCain taken from his reflections while imprisoned in Hanoi.
I like the way he was thinking. I am on the fence about voting for him, because I would need to see who would be running against him. However, his long service to America makes him a prime candidate for the presidency in my opinion.

I don't see how a man who was a POW in Vietnam so ardently supports a war that bears a striking resemblance to the Vietnam War. Then again, I never understood how he could become allied with a chickenhawk who was AWOL during Vietnam.

I have to admit that no Viet Cong were spotted in Alabama, where Dubya flew around a little bit during the Vietnam War. For all we know, he might have run into and killed a couple of VC while he was frantically dodging physicals, and been too modest to mention it...
