So I'm thumbing through the issue with Dave on the cover, rereading his article while on the shitter....where else?

Anyhow, Dave says that he wanted "Gigolo" to be included on 1984.....

Sounds like Dave's talking outta his ass, but what do you guys think?

Would Gigolo fit on 1984?

It's in the same spirit as Big Bad Bill, Happy Trails, Could This Be Magic, etc... So why not? Although I would have to say California Girls may have fit better, especially with the keyboards in it.

I have a bunch of old Creem and Circus mags...and a couple of the all CVH special issues...ahh, the good ol days.

Neither Gigilo nor Cali Girls would have fit on 1984 to these ears.

Not saying anything is really wrong with those covers, but just in terms of context, both would have stuck out like sore thumbs among the rest of the music. Even the 1984 tracks I'm lukewarm on at best, like I'll Wait, make some kind of sense alongside the rest of the tracks. Those two CFTH tunes would have just sounded too random within the proceedings, much like I'm Easy on EEAS.

My wife made me toss all my old Metal mags from the 80's.
At the time I couldn't care less. I'm sorry now though.
Going to start collecting the VH ones again.

I like "I'll Wait".
The one thing I like about 1984 is they really changed it up. Very wide range of songs musically.

Most overrated VH song of all-time....

I thought I'm Easy on EEAS made perfect sense.

gigolo is dave solo...pure diamond dave...that's why it's not on 1984 and that's good....
