Two amps from guitarist Jason Becker (DAVID LEE ROTH, CACOPHONY) are currently being auctioned via eBay, with all proceeds going straight to Jason, who is suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, a.k.a. Lou Gehrig's Disease). "If you win the auction, you can pick the amps up at Jason's house and hang with him," reads a posting on Becker's MySpace page. "And if you win, I'll even give you a cab to use, a Jason Becker t-shirt and an autographed picture of Jason and a photo of you with Jason that you can show your jealous friends."

The auctions can be accessed at the following locations:

I would only buy that Plexi if you're ONLY intent is to help Jason.

It appears that there are no pics of the chassis or guts. If you're looking for a straight piece this plexi probably isn't straight judging by the description.

Still, probably a nice amp, but $5000 without a shot of the guts? No way.

Funny, my best friend(who's a collector of vintage Marshalls and Boutique amps) and I had the same conversation the other night...he said he tried to contact the guy handling the auction, and he said he was a friend of the family doing it as a favor, had no knowledge of amps and was certainly not going to try to take it apart to take pics of it....I understand his position, but I agree with you totally....I'd wanna know how far from original it is.....

Much love and respect to Jason Becker, but how many times can this dude ask for "help"? Enough already.

yeah i hope everything turns out alright for him, damn you would think that theres someone out there hes been assosiated with that could afford to throw him some cash, like maybe david lee roth.
im not dissin dave so save the flames. or maybe hes been offered help and refused, if so more power to him.

All I know is that I've been reading VH-related message boards since about 1998, and with some regularity over these many years I see a "Help Jason Becker"-type post. It gets old. Doesn't mean I don't feel for the guy or appreciate the talent he had.

That said, I stand by my original post -- if you don't like, put your money where your mouth is and buy the amps and tell everyone what it was like to hang with Jason. Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

Dave and Ed have both helped him in the past. Jasons care is not cheap. He continues to compose and release albums. And last time he needed help he released shirts for sale.

As for Blo Nozo , Jason has virtually zero mobility and he's TRYING to make a living. Christ ,he's selling off his amps! He's not asking for a free-be.
Hey here's an idea. Why don't YOU step up to the goddamn plate and buy the fuckin amp if it bothers you so much!

We did an interview with Jason Becker a few years ago, and the dude typed it himself...WITH HIS MOUTH. I'll never forget his sister emailing us to tell us it would take a while because Jason insisted on doing these types of things himself. As far as we were concerned he could have taken a year to do it, and it would have been just fine. When I think of the potential talent that was there with Jason it just kills me.

If I had the money, I would buy both amps straight out...no questions about how original that Plexi is. Hell, I can fix the amp back to original specs, that's easy. If only Jason could be fixed...

Jason pulled the auction on the Plexi. Seems no one wanted to bid on it perhaps for the reasons others mentioned above.

Too bad....

Jason is a CLASS ACT..and an inspiration

That was a good move on Jason's part.

I wouldn't want to buy amps if I didn't know about their guts.

Becker's a class act and I give him major props -- here's to you, bro.
