View Full Version : Would You Pay To See Eddie Van Halen?

David Lee Roth aside, I'm not sure that I would pay to see Eddie Van Halen again. Let me explain why. If I knew of a great architect who had a fabulous reputation as one of the best architects in the world, I would probably be willing to pay the price to get him/her to design my new home or commercial building. However, if that architect developed a bad substance abuse problem that started affecting and degrading his work - all of a sudden the demand for his services would dramatically decrease. This is exactly what has happened to Eddie Van Halen.

How about you? Would you pay to see Eddie Van Halen in his current inebriated state of mind?

If there is no Dave, there is no Eddie. I wouldn't pay to see Eddie/Al/Wolfie without Dave. What would be the point?

This concert tour will be MY LAST I'll spend $$$ on regarding the Van Halen.

Dave does something in the years to come....I'm there!

Based on Ed's latest musical outings... House of Petals, Chesney and the porn party.

I might pay $5 cover charge at some dive bar on Friday night if the beer was cheap. Other than that... no way.

I didn't pay to see him with Spammy, so, no. There's lots of guitar players out there that are way better than EVH and more deserving of my attention not to mention cash. With no Dave, to hell with Eddie. Personally, I think an EEAA lineup reunion would be far more entertaining.

My theory of the VH Plan is:

The Sisters w/Wolfie & Dave will do this Summer Tour and retire the old hits, so that the Van Halens (without Dave) will start their new band w/ Wolfie and new music.

They will not perform the old hits after this tour.......and how could they? They know as well as us that without Dave singing lead on the first 6 albums worth of music they created, they're doomed. But they also don't want Dave singing on any new material, for that would mean the fans want to hear it from Dave and well...you know the rest of that storyline.....deja vu.

The soap opera has to have an ending and I think this tour is the beginning of the end. They're banking on ticket sales and Retirement Cash $$$.

Yes, I would.

Having heard his latest output, I'm tempted to say "No", but I would pay to see him play only because I've never seen him live before.

Is he still the 'King of Guitar'? Never thought he was the king even when he was in his prime...I'd say he's the coolest rock guitarist ever, but not the 'King of guitar'...

Nope...no chance.....

EVH without DAVID LEE ROTH is a boring individual

No, but only because I was lucky enough to catch CVH when they were together.

If that weren't the case, I might be tempted to go check him out, just to have been able to see him live once.

But unless it is the CVH lineup touring this year and new material is forthcoming, I doubt it. New material is the key for me. Going and seeing Ed run through just the classics now for his retirement fund really isn't gonna do it for me. Would rather pay a bootlegger some money for one of those shows and watch it at home than give Ed a dime for that cash-out bullshit.

I'd pay to see him by himself in an informal talky-playey-storytellery guitar clinicy kind of thing. As a formal VH perfromance, it would require Dave to get my money.

I wouldn't pay a dime to see an Ed solo project in 2007.

It would be a waste of ten cents.

Let's get it straight for the record Mr. Halfin........This is the ROTH ARMY. If were talking Van Halen, it's ROTH Era ONLY.

You seem to favor SPAMtard...........You're only going to get ROTH Loyalists here.

So what's your point when you say Van Halen is fun again?

While I appreciate the offer, I'm not one of those fans that purchases prints or even collects autographs. Pictures and signatures aren't where the musician's art can be found. I'm just fine with the music and the live performance.

These "rock stars" are people just like me and don't really impress me on a personal level. Not enough for me to have photos of them, or a piece of paper with their name written on it.

I'm fine as just a face in the crowd.;)

I have a friend in the rock biz that saw Eddie at Dimebag Darryls funeral a couple years back, I guess Eddie gave Darryl one of his original classic VH guitars to be buried with which is an awsome thing but he said that the really sad part was that out of all the musicians that were there Ed was a fucking mess and drunker than anyone , I guess he really made a scene and people were embarrased on his behalf . I think its really a shame that Ed cant seem to get it together but yes I hate to admit it, I would pay to go see VH reunited. It may be the only chance that I ever get to see Dave and Ed on stage together and I wouldnt miss it .

In a few cases, I think they ought to be asking ME for an autograph. LOL!

Especially when they've been as tumultuous as the Van Halen's have.

Why would I pay anything to sit around and watch Edweird swill smoking loon all day? On the other hand, if he were with Dave, that would be something entirely different.

"Van Halen are fun again."

"Van Halen are fun again."

We thought about it for a long time, "Van Halen are fun again." And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Sheeple.

I would tend to agree.

At least the band would be professional and shit-hot at all times.

I might be interested in seeing them without bassplayer, just out of curiosity, as Wolfie IS the next generation.

But it is just not the same without bassplayer.

The REASON they are getting inducted is because of the chemistry they had.

What fucking chemistry is there gonna be with Wolfie in the minds of the public? The memories those of us who saw CVH back in the day are memories of bass player pummeling his bass, then tossing it on the stage, then kicking it, and spitting on it. Wolfie could not impress anyone if he did something like that.

I would laugh if a 3-way brawl erupted onstage between Wolfie, Daddy, and Unkey.

Here is a fucked thought...what if Uncle Dave is not the singer?

What if it is David Coverdale or some fucking shit? LOL!

I seriously am hoping this is some sort of cruel joke being played on the whole planet....I wanna wake up one day to the news that Wolfie was playing bass just to rehearse his da-da and Unkey, and bassplayer never was mad at Ed or vice versa, and that it all was a large publicity contrivance of the Master Of Ceremonies....
