Those of you who've been around a long time know me.

I've never gotten off of the reunion bandwagon.

I've just always believed it was going to happen, eventually.

But now that the reunion is THIS close, I JUST CAN'T GET EXCITED ABOUT IT.

Yet, anyways.

But why ??

Is it because it's 11 years overdue ?? Maybe.

Is it because Mike is not included ?? Maybe, could very well be.

Is it because the band has screwed over CVH fans for 23 years ?? Maybe.

Is it because I just haven't seen them together in that long-awaited press conference ?? Maybe.

Now, having said all that, I'm quite sure I know exactly what will happen if/when the tour opens up in North Kakallaky.

Me and Poj will get shit-faced again (OK, this time we won't ;) )....

And we'll have a great time....

But are other Roth Army oldtimers feeling the same way that I am at this point ???

Well, VA, I can honestly say that 2 days ago, I came to the realization that the VA-VA-VOOM about this "Reuniting" has lost it's novelty for me. I'm tired of the "leaks" that I think were brought on by EVH's Porn Publicist-Girlfriend when she started to confirm Wolfie as BassPlayer back in September. I believe the leaks are deliberate and I'm so over it at this point and there is the sense of loss regarding MA's absence from this upcoming Tour.

YES, I have never been one to really care much whether BassPlayer is involved or not, but the more I think about how ED is making all the decisions whether Bassplayer is in or not and putting it on ROTH ("Bitch" as EVH refers to him) to make it appear as if it will be ROTH's responsiblility to let down the fans if he didn't come on board, just really irritates me.

The Van Halen's really think too highly of themselves when they've been silent for so long and it's ROTH whose been out on the road playing gigs for $$ that has been very easy on our pocketbooks and not asking for us to JUMP over the moon and hell's high water for the privilege of experiencing his show, like the Sisters are.

Yes, there is something definitely missing.

I am excited, extremely excited for DLR.

He deserves to savor every moment of legendary title for the Hall of Fame and everything good that he gets out of this tour.

Dave is not the one who makes me think of "CASH GRAB" about this tour, although, it will be a very nice payday for him.

It's the Sisters, their fickle decisions;, their so-called getting along with ROTH that worries me. Will the effort to get along and support each other with respect be evident? Can they realistically last 40 gigs without calling it quits and blaming ROTH ?

I have found my interst waining in the last few weeks as well, and I agree that it's mostly due to the lack of anyting official coming out of the VH camp. It's beginning to feel more and more like a hose job. When and if something official is announced I'll see what it is and base my excitement on that.

It’s because Dave, and the rest of the family, does this for the wrong reasons.. $.$$$.$$$. Don’t get me wrong If Dave needs the money then he should go for it, I sure have had some Shiite jobs just to pay for beer and ladies. But I want this to be the real thing all 4 of them feeling that there is something missing, at least one more kick ass album and tour.

If they decide to do this I hope it’s a succes, sold out shows, I hope they get along, I hope the kid can play, and has developed some form of stage presence, I hope the crowd accepts him. I hope that Ed stays sober enough to perform at least decent. I hope that Dave’s voice is as good as it can be. And I do hope that Paris Hiltion stops being a skanky Ho and peruse a career as a brain surgeon, I hope….

I think you just can't get too exited because until they actually hit the stage in front of you it could all blow up a la Axl Rose.

I think everyone hoped for the eventual reunion for all the right reasons...and not a bit of a cash grab and "closure":(

We all held classic Van Halen and what it stood for a little closer to our hearts than what we are getting.

That said...I am still pretty pumped.

I'm less than thrilled. IMO 96 was the year for the reunion. With Wolfie in the mix and Ed all wacked out of his mind, the whole thing has become too strange for me to get excited about. I feel sorry for Mike, but I am glad to see Dave get closure.

I think the reason this is not as exciting is that, in 1996, it appeared they had set aside their differences. They still had a good run of stuff to do, I think we were looking forward to 3-4 more albums and some tours before it was over. Plus, they would have reclaimed their spot on top of the world....

In 2007, though, it means that we are on pins and needles, with only the hope of an oldies tour with Eddie forcing his kid on us. Things would have to go picture perfect all around for their to be a new album to follow, and that is a lot to hope for. So this might just be a farewell tour.

THAT is why it feels so different.
