VAN HALEN DUE TO ROCK N.Y.

January 28, 2007 -- New York Van Halen fans - get ready to jump!

The '80s band is reportedly hitting the road this summer for the first time in 20 years with original lead singer David Lee Roth behind the mike - and the likelihood is the rock band will roll into the Big Apple.

Billboard magazine reported last week that the "reunion" tour is close to becoming reality, with Van Halen -slated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year - on the verge of signing a contract with concert promoter Live Nation for 40 shows.


"Until it's signed, sealed and delivered, I'm not sure it will happen," said a concert-biz insider. "We all know the history of this band. But if it works out, I'm sure New York will be on the date list."

Roth - who had a short-lived stint as a Sirius Satellite Radio deejay last year - hasn't toured with Van Halen since he quit in 1985 after clashing with lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen. He did appear on stage with the band at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards.

Original bassist Michael Anthony will not participate, according to Billboard.

Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang will play bass.

My alarm clock went off this morning. The local classic rock station was doing the news, and only 5 seconds after the radio turned on, they reported this same crap, though they said "rumors say they will start the tour in late April in Las Vegas...".
