Personally I could care less who is singing for Van Halen.
There is only one Dave. There never has been nor will there ever be another person like Dave. His energy, positive attitude, sense of humor, way with words, and passion for life are like no other. Dave is unique as they come and could never be replaced.
Songwriting on the other hand is an entirely different matter. Ed Van Halen is an extraordinary songwriter, a talent that I will admit Dave does not have. However there are TONS of people who can write great songs.
Whether Dave hooks up with Ed or some other good songwriter, it doesn't matter to me. Dave just needs a good songwriter to collaborate with.
So if the VH brothers are too stupid to recognize an extraordinary thing when they see it (i.e. Dave), then f#$* them. Dave doesn't need them, and neither do I.
I look forward to Dave's next CD, regardless of who the mere songwriter is.
