OK, LET'S SEE a show of hands. Who's excited about this summer's big Van Halen reunion?

Not me. And nobody with any kind of well-sculpted, self-respecting mullet back in the '80s loved Van Halen more than me.

First off, let's see them make it through the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony first. There's some real potential for embarrassment there, depending on how long David Lee Roth's speech runs, how many midgets and strippers he brings along, and whether Eddie Van Halen decides to let bassist Michael Anthony play with the band. There won't be enough shame to go around if he decides to jam his 15-year-old son into the mix instead.

Not that I have anything against midgets or strippers. Or midget-strippers, for that matter. But it's no longer the days of "Dave TV," and there's enough potential for unintentional comedy and downright ugliness at these things every year without David Lee Roth wearing a big sombrero and making tequila jokes at Sammy Hagar's expense.

Then again ...

By the way ... anyone else concerned about ol' Dave's voice on a prolonged tour, without Michael Anthony's soaring, monstrous high-harmonies? Van Halen -- and again, a band for which I truly mourn because it was so gigantically great back in the day -- was borderline lame last time it pulled through, with Hagar. Say what you want about Sam, but he can still sing and was trying to salvage what could've been a real disaster. As was Anthony, whose friendship and musical alliance with Hagar got him kicked out of Van Halen. Instead, we get a 15-year-old bassist on a supposed "reunion" tour.

Twenty-five years ago, I would've plunged a letter opener into my spleen before believing I'd ever say the following, but seeing the Police this summer is a much better bet.

Dave did a "prolonged" tour last year and his voice was great..... and the CVH songs he did on the tour did not include MA's background vocals.

On the flip side, I am in agreement with you that THIS TOUR with the Sisters should involve MA.

Excited? Not so much with ED doing it HIS WAY...after all, he's not Sinatra. Ed's way leaves a very bad taste in mouth.

Excited for Dave? Yes and No. Happy for Dave's induction into the HOF, not so happy for him having to deal with EVH, the "Real" Loose Cannon, and a Tour that is hard to be optimistic about. :elvis:

But this is all good. Mike started down the path when Sammy got him involved in the sauce business. trademarks and commercials. Please....I like Mike and nothing would make me happier than to see mike back but out of all the people and intruments to go, it's his. The bass is the easiest to replace and for vocals hey that's what voice enhancing machines are for. Back up vocals. DAVE IS BACK! SAMMY IS OUT. GOOD MUSIC TO COME. START THE PARTY. If Mike wants back he can be back. There is always room for wolfie. Hey 5150 tour brought 3 guitars in the mix. So I don't see the issue there. MIKE HOW BAD DO YOU WANT BACK? Dave is a master and he will be ready. Valerie is out don't forget, big plus there for the situation....

I have lots of music, but you'll find me running around with Van Halen playing all the time. My name is synonymous with VH among my friends because they know how much I dig CVH and they hear it whenever they are over for food, drinks and other things. I'm pissed and depressed!

I saw the Spammy tour in 2004. It SUCKED. I went to see ED play. Guess what, the motherfucker was too drunk and played like shit. The man stopped to say, "Sorry, I fucked up. Let me try that again." He continued to suck and blow throughout the show. I cannot believe I said that here because I love Van Halen.

When you have thousands of fans eagerly waiting for you you don't do these things:

Show up late

Show up shit faced

Play in a way that even I can blow you away with my acoustic that only has 5 strings on it.

Wear a yellow bananna suit and call yourself the Red Rockette

The 2004 show was a joke.

Here it is 2007 and there is word that the GREAT DIAMOND DAVE is going to tour with the sisters again. Motivation skyrockets for many throughout the world, especially for me.
Rumors pile up, excitement builds, and all I can talk about with friends and while pleasuring the wife is Van Halen is coming to town and the show will be 15 minutes from home. "Wahoooooooooo....you're getting it to Mean Streets at the concert baby!)

Now we have Wolfie replacing Mike, we are (pretty sure) we're getting DLR, Ed is quoted saying, "We are ready to play whoever the singer is"
and the hits keep coming.

Will I see them without Mike. Yep. But it's just wrong. Will I see them without Dave. HELL NO!

Van Halen has done nothing but shit on their fans for a looooong time and I am depressed about it. But I'm getting over it through anger.
