View Full Version : Could Wolfie Surprise All Of Us With His Talent?

Let's face it, Wolfie comes from the loins of no other than Edward Van Halen. He's grown up around music. Like Eddie's dad pushed him to play, so Eddie has done to Wolfie. So, it's a good possiblity that Wolfie is no ordinary kid when it comes to comparing him to other 15-year-olds.

Let's see what young kids can do with a guitar. Here's an eight-year-old for starters:

Im on this side of the fence for sure, not going to put Wolfgang down
until I hear him play. I could have played MA basslines at 16, no problemo...
I bet most the guitarists here could...

16 is a great age to start Rocking !

I for one aren't slagging Wolfie, or his bass playing abilities or credentials.......

I'M BLAMING HIS FATHER FOR BEING A FUCKING JACKASS AND THINKING OF NOTHING BUT HIMSELF, AND ONCE AGAIN SHITTING ALL OVER ANY CHANCE OF A CVH REUNIION.

I don't fucking care if wolfie can shred and play his PS2 at the same time while eating Thai.......

I just wanted one last CVH show.

i used to play the guitar when i was a kid and taught people when a was in my late teens,i lied about my age to get in my first band,i auditioned on my 16th birthday and told them i was 18 and been in loads of bands!....i got the job and was touring Europe 3 weeks later, and the point im gonna make is, yeah i had all the parts nailed and i played pretty well.....but not once did i prepare for anything going wrong on stage, never gave it a thought!...i at that age think i would have walked off stage if id broken a string or forgotten the chords or burst into tears if anyone laughed!, if something went wrong on stage for me now,i just laugh and make a joke of it....Wolfie might be very mature playing wise.....but if he breaks a string, forgets the notes or suddely hears people shouting 'you aint no M.Anthony fat boy' thats when it will show if hes upto the job,cos if he doesnt laugh along with the ups and downs of playing live in an adult fashion....trust me.... the audience will eat him for breakfast.....poor kid

Exactly. Look what Jacob Dylan did with the Wallflowers. There have been many offspring of talented people who found their own way, albeit in the same general direction of the parents. Let TeenWolf find his own musical style and create his own band & sound. If he's as talented as Ed says, and with the name Van Halen, he'll do just fine.

Jakob Dylan didn't ride his dad's coattails or play in his dad's band.

Instead he put his own band together and had a hit single that sounded like Springsteen wrote it.

This is a kid here in Phoenix, Nick Sterling. i think he's 16 now, but he's been performing live since he was 8. He plays a LOT of CVH songs (even made sure to have 5150 heads). Really kicks ass on Rhodes stuff too.

Has recorded two albums, plays guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, cello.. all by himself on his albums.

This kid plays at NAMM every year, and has opened for Kid Rock, Aerosmith, Eric Johnson, etc.

I've been going to his concerts since he was 12, which was kind of strange. Hearing this awesome sound coming out of the speakers, then hear his mickey mouse like voice saying "thank you, ozzy rules" was odd.

for me the big question is: were other world wide known bands trying to recruit him? hmmmm.....I DOUBT IT very much. let's all acknowledge the obvious: he wouldn't be in this band if his dad wasn't writing the songs. hell, if that were the case EVH could have cruised down to any local music store in LA and picked up a hot playing 16 y/o bass player.

furthermore, it's one thing to be shit hot in a bedroom. it's another thing to be shit hot in front of thousands of screaming people.

I started playing guitar at nine so by my tenth birthday, I'm sure I could've picked up a bass and nailed BP's lines easily. They just aren't that complicated. It would be so easy just to take a bit of artistic license to make them much more interesting. Why does everybody think that us "naysayers" are putting down the boy's musical ability? It's not about whether or not he's musically brilliant. It's about the fact that there is only a slim-to-none chance he's ready for the humongous pressure of being in a band like VH.

I started playing "Louie Louie" at 6 months of age . At one year, I pretty much had "Eruption" down, except that bit in the beginning. By age two, Paganini pieces and all Eddie stuff, but twice the speed. Then, I got bored and took up master concerto orchestration. Beat that.

None of this crap has anything to do with Edward denying the fans a real reunion...

I find it particularly amusing how some of you actually believe something Edward Van Halen says...

yah
02-08-2007, 11:06 PM
Basically, it wasn't necessary to not include Mike Anthony in this '07 reunion...that is what is pissing most CVH fans off here.
He's not ill, he still has the instrumental chops and vocals....it's just the sisters holding a grudge over "The Other Half".
Wolfie will probably be a great bass player, I just hope he's got the vocal pipes as well.

You really don't need a bass player to put on a great show.

Case in point.......

How hard is it to play open E and three other chords.

People would be aithin about something if all 4 orginal band members were hittin the road.

I;ve been coming here for more than five years under this name and others and never would I of thought that this would be the outcome of your opinions when Diamond Dave finally tour again with the Mighty VH.

What is everyone on the rag or out of Meth?

no shit man (king roth)........if you're gonna talk shit, at least know what you're saying.....first, "open e" would not be a chord, cause it's one goddamn string. second, obviously you've never picked up a guitar in your life so you don't know how hard anything is on guitar. don't post shit just to agree with people, it's pointless.

What's with all the kiddie music porn?? Bunch of pedofile six-stringer perverts!!!

Ok it's a proven fact that there's a lot of kids with chops and can play their ass off. Big fuckin deal...

How many of these zit-faced kids are going out on a 40 stop national tour backing 35 year veteran rock legends??? None.

How many of you are willing to pay $100-$400 a ticket to see these punks??

Every Tuesday night in this little town the local music store has a teen night thing where high school age teens come down and jam. Plus they combine that with some generic christian discussions and provide support for a clean life. There's a few kids that kick ass musically and can even out-play me... not a one is ready to go tour in Van Fucking Halen though...
