...the butterflies in your gut turn to condors as you hear the NOISE begin....

BUT....

What's your ultimate first song? What CVH tune is the ONLY one that will erase 23 years of frustration in the four minutes it will take to hear it open the "Inevitable Tour"?

For me: UNCHAINED.

I hope they open with "You really Got me" instead of always waitng for the encore. The crowd would get pumped. Let's try to be optimistic here. There's not much else to listen to...:)

I'd love to see them open with "Runnin' With The Devil" as a passing of the torch so to speak...

My bro JMJ and Miss diamondsgirl have already had many discussions speculating this upcoming scenerio.

Seriously, just thinkin' how epic it would be if the lights went down, we hear EVH "noodling" as the crowd gets pumped, then we have the old, infamous announcer yelling I GIVE YOU THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN!!! Then the spotlight shines down on WVH layin' down that famous bass, thumping intro... That will put the we miss "Mikey" crap to bed for good. ;) :D

After that, one by one the lights go onto the rest of the band and they launch into that tune!!! :killer:

After that, say they do like two more i.e. "Romeo Delight" and "Unchained" then Dave pauses, milks the fuck out of the crowd with "LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE HERE TONIGHT!!!

*crowd goes extatic with both an epic and thunderous roar*

Fuck, I'm getting goosebumps and chills just thinking about it!!!

Man, there are so many that would work.
Runnin With The Devil (with the car horn intro)
Romeo Delight
Loss of Control
On Fire

I say start with "I'll Wait" so the shitty song is off the plate right away.

Then bust into the songs that don't suck.

Honestly, I highly doubt as if "I'll Wait" will even be a part of the upcoming setlist. NEITHER parties have played in since the split. I know that Dave was always dead set against that song from the get go. Inspite of the stellar lyrics he put over it (negating Michael McDonald's chorus contribution) that song was just "hip" for the '84 tour. I'll bet $$$ we will not hear it.

And I'll politely disagree with you.

Ed won't be packing a keyboard on this tour only to waste it on Jump. He'll find a way to put I'll Wait into the mix.

Bet you a Dr. Pepper or other beverage on it. :)

While we're on the "Fair Warning" topic and as long as they're dragging out a keyboard player, I'd give my left nut (J/K) if they played one of their most underrated songs... That being "One Foot Out The Door." That motherfucker not only smokes but has ZERO Michael Anthony backing vocals and truly rocks!!! Again, I don't think that tune's ever been given proper props, IMO.

This is just too fucking stupid but that post just gave me chills, made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I'm with Mr White, Romeo Delight would smoke as an opener.

NO RWTD NO YRGM NO ILL WAIT NO UNCHAINED

Now, ROMEO'S DELIGHT would be delightful......

But realistically, I'd settle for something in the middleground..... not an overly crapatistic radio hit, or an ultra-heavy song.....

I'll take:

"AND THE CRADLE WILL ROCK"

This is a perfect song to start things off..... the crowd is already pumped.... they just need to be fed.....And I think that this is the perfect song to begin with......

THIS IS A SONG THAT "BUILDS"..... IT BEGINS WITH EVH GUITAR, AND SATIFIES IMMEADIATELY WITH DAVE'S VOCALS . . . .

IT HAS STRONG DAVE VOCALS

IT HAS STRONG DRUMS

IT HAS A SOLID BASS LINE

IT HAS LOTS OF FUN WITH EVH ON GUITAR

Mark my words, THIS song will be the best opener for Old and Young fans alike.....

The fans frenzy can get grooved and settled in with "AND THE CRADLE WILL ROCK"..... then they can play all of those BIG radio "Hits" . . .

BrownSound, I couldn't even get the Atomic Punks to play that song. I asked Ralph before the show to play it on two seperate nights. No go. I guess it's just a lost classic.

For me, it would have to be Jump.

I think I would Jump out of my seat to see them all back together playing that song.

Unchained would be good too.

And, for the second song, Secrets.

Will Wolfie be wearing a 'Who The Fuck is Gary Cherone?' T-shirt?
Perhaps some ass-less chaps?
After the center-stage bow, will Alex's head just snap off and land in row 2?
Let's see....no Cabo Tequila or Mad Anthony Hot Sauce ads, but will there be a giant 'buy my 25K Fender Replicas' backdrop behind the drumriser?
