I saw him in St. Louis on that tour. Brings back some memories. His voice was in a bad place then. Much better today.

He's no better than that now...

I saw that show in New Orleans...

Me and and less than 100 other people...

The first year of the high pitched yelps...

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it...

Was David performing in clubs then ?

I tried to catch him in Raleigh, NC at that time, but couldn't make it.

A couple of my friends did go, said it was packed and he gave an awesome show ...

There may have been more than 100 people, but no way more than 200...

how did it feel to be that "close" to a man who was larger than life before and used to play for crowds a hundred times bigger than that?

I shook his hand and said hello, or something...

He was cool...

He played like it was a big show, so it was cool...

he wasn't all that good though, and I thought the band pretty much sucked, especially on Van Halen stuff...

One thing that shocked me is Dave is about the same height as me...

I always thought he was this tall figure...

That brings back memories and not great ones.

The best wedding band in the world is still a wedding band.

Sammy must really be short then, because Dave towers over Sammy in the pics of them together before the tour and at the MTV music awards. I also thought Dave was a taller guy before seeing him live in a small venue.

Sam is 5'1" and 236 lbs...

This was the tour that ended with a bad version of Jump...

it also had Dave talking alot, and nobody could hear him. I think he did alot of small clubs on that tour.

I envy the fact that you met him though. I only seen him live. So after you met him you felt dissapointed?

that was me being nice....

Now let's see if Elvis can do the same. :D

I don't know if I was dissapointed...

I kinda felt bad for Dave, feeling that he was down on his luck, so to speak...

But he got what he deserved, in my opinion...

I'm a huge Dave fan, but I dont think just "Dave" is enough, he needs strong musicians and a good guitar player...

On that tour he went out with a band of unknowns, all weak players, and people weren't interested...

He encountered the same problem with that album (CD) and some of his other releases...

In more recent years the material he was playing (almost all classic Van Halen) was part of the attraction that led to better attendance, in my opinion...

The EEAS years speak for themselves...

But just "Dave" is not a hot ticket...

And I would say the same for some of my other favorites...

Take Dio for instance. As much of a great singer he is, i'm not really interested unless there's a good guitar player with him...

If Dave had married Sharon Osbourne (LMAO!) she wouldn't have sent him out on the road, or recorded a bunch of albums with a bunch of useless nobodys...

How's that for an answer ??

Look again at the setlist.

1. Big Train

2. Panama

3. Experience

4. She's My Machine

5. Pretty Woman

6. A Little Luck

7. Talk

8. Just A Gigolo

9. Dance The Night Away

10. Sunburn

11. Beautiful Girls

12. Night Life

13. Just Like Paradise

14. Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love

15. California Girls

16. Ice Cream Man

17. Jump

You have to think that the CVH songs were chosen to suit the fact that the guitarists couldn't play Eddie stuff very well.

I remember Beautiful Girls being miserable and fuck knows why he did Pretty Woman.

Sunburn is a nice little song on an album but not live. Gigalo, yawn, Nightlife live no thanks. Over a third of the set YFLM songs?

There's only a few rock songs in the whole set. The crowd I saw it with weren't impressed at all.

Worst Roth show I've ever seen by far.

Cheers!

I thought "Sunburn" sounded really cool on that tour.

And have to agree with Elvis on this one....

The venue I saw him in Minneapolis was not much bigger than a bar...maybe 200 there.......

But Dave played it like Madison Square Garden.

Saw him at the Academy in NYC on this tour. They didn't do anything of EEAS. The band he had just couldn't pull it off.

I felt the same way at the Houston show. The VH stuff SUCKED!! It was still cool to see Dave in such an intimate setting.
