I am totally stoked for this movie (or..er...double feature. :D).

I am a big fan of old 70s exploitation flicks and I love how Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are bringing this whole grindhouse experience back with these "two" films.

Awesome stuff.

Basically, for those who don't know, a GRINDHOUSE was a theatre that showed exploitation movies (excessive violence, gore, sex, nudity, the whole shit!)--because they were too risque and grotesque to be played in regular theatres. Also, these films were made by those who couldn't afford big budgets and even big actor names -- so they put as much violence, sex, etc in a movie as possible to sell to audiences. Usually these were made into 'Double Features'.

The name 'Grindhouse' was taken from the type of behavior found at these theatres (apparently, lots of fucking. :D) and to the worn out, over-used nature of the film used to project the movies (the filmakers didn't even have money to make multiple prints -- so the same print got thrown around to different theatres--contributing to its worn look and even cuts.)

I never had a chance to see a flick at a GRINDHOUSE -- just before my time -- but I saw a whole bunch of the kinds of movies they played when VHS came out-- the home video format that basically signalled the death of the Grindhouse theatre in the 1980s.

By the 90s, they were all but gone I think.
