anyone else get this?
Thanks for your note. We appreciate your feedback and, of course, wanted all the members of Van Halen to perform at the 2007 Inductions. And in fact, all of the band members were asked to perform.
Out of the chute, everyone except for Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar told us that they would not perform at the ceremony. At that point, the production of the show had to be set up and we moved forward with the understanding that Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar wouldn’t play and Velvet Revolver would do a tribute.
At some point in the process, the media stated that we stopped David Lee Roth from performing at the Induction Ceremonies. This is simply not true. We offered him a number of opportunities, including singing his choice of Van Halen songs, playing with our house band, playing with his own guitarist or performing with Velvet Revolver. David Lee Roth refused those opportunities and we moved forward with plans for the show.
This was unfortunate, as our first and best option is always to have the Inductees perform.
We made every effort to welcome and honor David Lee Roth. The decision not to come to the event was solely his, not ours. We would have much rather had him join us in the celebration.
I hope this helps clarify things for you. We truly appreciate your feedback and your passion for the music.
