Barrera Marques fight.

I was on vacation and couldn't find anywhere that was showing it, and apparently it was a classic!!

A lot of controversy on the net about who should have won: did Marques deserve the decision?

Having watched it, I don't know what fight the judges were scoring!!

It was close for sure, and could have gone either way - but there's no way Marques won it by that margin!

Personally, I reckon Barrera did enough even with the shambles of refereeing in round 7: look at the state of Marques face, Barrera landed cleaner shots, beat him to the punch and always came back under trouble - outside of round 7, Marques really didn't trouble Barrera.

Hope there's a rematch...

There should be a rematch, but no way did Barrera win. He thought for sure he did, I don't see how. I don't think the giant margin a couple of the judges had was correct, the 116-111 I think was at least closer than the other two, and even that may have been off.

He did knock down Marquez and got cheated out of it, but why he hit him illegally on the mat was just plain stupid.

A rematch would be great, they made a helluva fight.

Neither of them is gonna touch Pac-man on current form, although Marques took him to a draw a couple of years back...

I reckon Barrera edged it, he clearly won the first three rounds and seemed to get the cleaner shots off for the rest of the fight, often beating Marques to the punch.

The commentary team were much closer to the actual result of the fight (1 for Barrera, 1 for Marques) than the judges, IMO...

As for the illegal punch - what a dummy, no excuses...

However if the ref had done his job and sent him to a neutral corner for the knockdown, it probably would have been avoided, Barrera shouldn't have done it though...
