    Classic arcade games

Fuck X-box or PS2. Anyone remember Missile Command & Lunar Lander? Remember when 7-11's had 2 or 3 games in them and pizza places had mini arcades? What other great ones did you guys like?

    The Classics still hold up....

    ASTEROIDS

    MOON PATROL

And one of the coolest of all time because of how innovative it was when it came out....

    DRAGON'S LAIR!!!!

I don't know how many thousands of quarters I dropped on that game, but it was GREAT!!!

Excellent thread! Lots of fun to reminisce...

Dragon's Lair's on DVD and you can play on the remote.
I was pretty suprised when I found out. If only we had that in the 80's.

        Asteroids was the shit!(The Best)

Defender, Joust, Missle Command and Hang On were a few of my favorites.

Can't forget the pinball game action. PARAGON was my favorite pinball game. One quarter = one full day of 7-11 ownage.

Dragon's Lair was the tits! I used to LOVE that fucking game!

I also remember games like Burger Time, Zaxxon, Ghost N Goblins...

To bad the arcade is pretty much a thing of the past.

I have a MAME Atari emulator on my PC at home.

            Battlezone is my fave.

Kinda cool, cause it only needs 1.5 Mhz of CPU power to run, so I can play it while encoding video.

              MAME is the shit!!!

I have over a thousand arcade ROMs (no consoles, only the arcade versions).

My favorites: Time Pilot, Frogger, 1942, Kung Fu Master, Karate Champ, Punch Out!, Galaga, Joust , Defender, Super Pac Man, Dig Dug, Popeye, Donkey Kong.

I play then all the time. It's not only the nostalgia but the time required to play. I like to play these games when I've got a few minutes to kill. Hard to get into GTA when you've only got 10 minutes to spare.

As an arcade junkie in the 80s/early 90s I'm surprised at people saying they liked Dragons Lair.

To me it was a way of charging you tons of cash to watch a shitty cartoon. Very little gameplay or skill just a money pit IMHO.

The big innovation fuck me moment I think was the first Star Wars game.

                    Cheers!

                          Dad had one of these

and I played the crap out of it. I would sit on the bed for hours and just mash buttons. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

There was another game I loved , but I cannot remember the name.

                              Little help...

                              Objective:
Destroy ship surrounded by two spinning defensive force fields in the center of the screen.

Destroy outer and inner shields, exposing target ship to weapons fire.

The shields and target ship remain in the middle of the screen until destroyed: all the time, you're flying around, somewhat like Asteroids, trying to whoop ass.
