In your opinion what's the best VH or DLR cover song?

For me "You Really Got Me" is amazing.
I'm a huge Kinks fan and was amazed how the band was able to update this song and make it their own. I saw The Kinks in 1992 and Ray Davies introduced this song as a Van Halen song.
I think old Ray was quite proud.

I think "Dancin' In the Street" was great in how, musically, it was such a departure from the original. At the same time maintaining the good time vibe.

You Really Got me Rocks - Has got to be the best though. They made that song there own and blew the world away.

you're missing the point.

The music serves the song well for better or worse.

Martha & the Vandells is more Rock the "Love Comes Walking In".

In fact - "Why can't this be love" is the same type of POP song as "dancing in the streets".

Aretha Franklin is more rock than Hagar. And when SHE sings with balls, I almost believe it.

I have always hated Hagar though.

I can't imagine anything more pussy than some grown man banging his head, playing air-guitar to "why can't this be love"

What a stupid question. The great thing about Van Halen was the original songs, not the covers. Why do you think Diver Down is the least popular Roth era CD despite having the greatest VH song ever on it (Little Guitars)? It is because is was a cover CD for the most park.

Uh hello. I think you'll find that one is a VH original and not a cover.

My favourite is 'You're no Good' which is just superb. I also love 'Big Bad Bill...' and 'Pretty Woman.'

I like the album version of YRGM but live it's crap, just encore material when they are too tired and drunk to play their best songs.
