Reminds me of that Styx little ditty

Sitting on this barstool talking like a damn fool
Got the twelve oclock news blues
And Ive given up hope on the afternoon soaps
And a bottle of cold brew
Is it any wonder Im not crazy? is it any wonder Im sane at all
Well Im so tired of losing- I got nothing to do and all day to do it
I go out cruisin but Ive no place to go and all night to get there
Is it any wonder Im not a criminal?
Is it any wonder Im not in jail?
Is it any wonder Ive got

Too much time on my hands, its ticking away with my sanity
Ive got too much time on my hands, its hard to believe such a calamity
Ive got too much time on my hands and its ticking away from me
Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands

Well, Im a jet fuel genius - I can solve the worlds problems
Without even trying
I have dozens of friends and the fun never ends
That is, as long as Im buying
Is it any wonder Im not the president
(hes not the president)
Is it any wonder Im null and void?
Is it any wonder Ive got

Too much time on my hands, its ticking away at my sanity
Ive got too much time on my hands, its hard to believe such a calamity
Ive got too much time on my hands and its ticking away from me
Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands

Every band mentioned so far in this thread merits their name in the Hall except for one....the Ramones...I would put Hagar in before those inbred bastards, and I hate Hagar

Gotta agree here. I've read way too many Frank bios to know how many times he railed against rock-n-roll.

When the whole "Elvis" movement came out, Frank continually slammed both Elvis and rock music. Whether it was because of jealousy or fear can be debated.

But there's no debating his music didn't remotely resemble/contain rock in it and that he continually said how much he hated it.

I love the guy and his music, but he's not fit for the Rock HOF.

no matter how much you may hate the ramones they deserve to be in, i would put the New York Dolls in along with Iggy and the Stooges

I don't know why they bother with it. All it does is generate anger and disappointment.

May as well get rid of it.

I don't think they intended the "Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame" to be just about rock and roll. Its just a title. Like "Classic Rock" Magazine. Its just about Classic Rock, cos they talk about new bands too. Or "The Best of Van Halen", cos its got Hagar tracks on it as well.

Shove Willie Dixon in there too.

Same way a helluva lot of the Motown songs you recognise were written by Smokey Robinson...a helluva lot of Chess songs you recognise were written by him.

that would be from before rock and roll began, before the 50's.

and they were old southern delta blues.

Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson,leadbelly.

we should also include a number of folks who came before from other genres like

Gene Krupa,Anton LeVey,Frank Sinatra,Tommy Dorsey,Ella Fitzgerald,
Buddy Rich,Tony Bennett,Sandy Denny,Frank Gershwin.

and really far back....the great composers:

Ludwig Von Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach,Amedaus Mozart,
Tchaikovsky,Debussy, Chopin and so on.

And a ton of hit rock and roll records were written by Willie Nelson also.
we should abosolutely include Frank Zappa in the 1960's.
he is the only person that ever got ol'Ed Sullivan fired up enough to show his ill temper on the air by using a 10 speed bicycle as a musical instrument. even Jim Morrison did not get him to go off like that.

But, I suppose you have a point.

But, considering the direct influence the likes of Johnson and Dixon had, they should let them in there.
