    King's X - One of rock's greats

One of my very favorites from the very first time I heard them back in '88, King's X is one of if not THE most underrated band ever. I never could understand why these guys never hit the bigtime. The musical chemistry between them is unbelieveable. In a musical climate lacking in originality, they're one of the few bands that managed to create their own distinct sound and after all these years and still deliver. If you haven't heard them before, give them a listen ...... You will not be sorry.

King's X were victims of music industry marketing..... they had roots in the Christian rock scene and associations with Petra and Phil Keaggy, so that scared the Hell out of the secular music industry especially radio, which wouldn't touch 'em.

Meanwhile, the Christian music scene wouldn't touch them either because their music wasn't blatant doctrinal propaganda stuff (i.e see how many times you can fit the word "Jesus" into the lyrics, and print little scriptural references after every song.)

And of course when Doug came out of the closet, any pretense of support from the so-called "christians" was gone forever.

All of the above resulting in a great band being pigeonholed and largely ignored. Even I know pitifully little of their music outside of the first couple of records. I plan to hunt some more recent stuff down soon.......

I seen Kings X back in the early eighties seen Phil Keggy several times also.
This guitarist bud of mine was chaseing some Christian pussy.(oh the irony)

There is nothing rite or wrong with -Christian Rock- when it's done rite, like any music. It is some of the best ever as is Kings X ,was and from the latest clip still is, fine! Phil Keggy could teach a few lessons to Glen Campbell, if your hearing me.

I am absolutely not talking about the two groups listed, but what soured me was .Watching Christian rockers snort a line of powder
          before going on stage.

Lie to yourself MF jus don't lie to me.

I found out most of them couldn't get air time with the mainstream rock agencies so they changed thier -front-.

I would have respected the Christian Rock scene if it was - I am a beliver who is a slave to the temptations of this worldy day.-

Some were like this above, some were as transparent as Jimmy Swaggert.

I think everyone who was Experienced, that i hung with, knew this, double faced coin.

That is the main reason Christian Rock was never huge. Imop.

"Live all over the place" is one of the greatest discs ever made. Taken from various performances over the years.I highly recommend.

For the record, while King's X do have roots in the Christian Rock scene. the band has long since left that boat behind and do not like to be lumped in with religion. (especially Doug).
