Who's toying around with Epiphone Valve Jr.'s in here?

I broke down and got one. I haven't done the Mercury Magnetics mod yet so mine is stock. I tried it as a bass practice amp and with my Spector bass it sounded better than I thought it would. I really carried all the overtones and harmonics and even sounded good with punching and slapping.

I'm amazed at how versitile these one knob things are. Spector basses have a lot of tone control right on the bass and you really don't need a lot of shit on the amp anyways.

I tried one with the Mercury Magnetics mod and it was amazing.

I have one and it sucks for guitar...

Sounds muffled and cheap even on a 412 with vintage greenbacks...

Sounds great with my JHE Jimi Hendrix pedal in front of it...

Sounds good with my Jazz bass into a 210 cab...

I rarely mess with it since I bought it for $54 in new condition on ebay...

Yup. You deffinately need a good OD peddle with it. It sounds amazing with both my Spector and Jack Casady basses though. The Spector is a pop/slapping machine and that cheap little speaker handles it! It sounds a lot richer than the solid state bass practice amps. For guitar, you need to mod it, use an atentuator, and/or a good peddle/s.
