Me and my guitar playing friends made fun of Husker Du back in the day...

I had all but forgot about them...

I watched the first two so far. I remember the first one and the live version of Eight Miles High is pretty darn cool...

I'm trying to remember what song I kinda liked back in the 80's...

Bob Mould was an incredible guitarist. Completely unique and identifiable...and much imitated! Husker Du was a MAJOR influence on the indie scene. Without them, for example, the Pixies wouldn't have existed.

Saw Bob Mould at Toads Place in New Haven in 94 or so. Great show. Was his band called Sugar then?

Bob's band in 94 was indeed Sugar, and they were awesome (unfortunately, the best huskers albums were very poorly produced, and to this day, Mould refuses to release the master tapes for remastering). Sugar's Copper blue is great b/c there's a lot of great music, AND it's produced very very well. Highly recommended.

The bands name came about when - in their earliest days - they were jamming on Talkng Heads "Psycho Killer" and they started spewing all the nonsensical foreign phrases they could, and Husker Du - the name of a childs game - came up; and for some reason stuck.

Copper Blue was a great record. It's too bad he couldn't keep Sugar together for more than 3 albums.

Apparently, he'a a raging egomaniac, as well as a true artist, which is why he has such difficulties keeping bands together. If you listen to his musical evolution, it's always shifting. In fact, did you know a couple of years ago after his forays into synth music bombed, he actualy was writing scripts for pro-wrestling for a time?

(Oh, and he is also the author of the theme music for a certain Comedy Central program that Craig Kilborn used to headline)

Great shit considering "Husker du?" means "Do you remember" in Norwegian.. but I guess a lot of you already knew that, right?
