Rap has sucked the creativity from the marrow of Rock.

Instead of honing their craft with an instrument, cap your teeth, wear 20 chains like Mr.T, just hop up and down and say "Yeah" after each break and sample some Led Zeppelin, Van Halen or The Police and VIOLA...instant street cred with the homies!

A majority of rappers seem like a buncha talentless biznitches.

If they want to actually do something artistic, they should learn to play an instrument and try CREATING something, other than ripping people off and then yelling about it while 'sampled' (stolen) music gets played in the background.

Notice rap performers live.

What the fuck kind of show can they put on? Maybe the DJs who do nothing but standing in the background ruining good vinyl records could copy Jimi Hendrix next, and set a vinyl album on fire while it is being played on their turntable.

Bunch of non-creative idiots.

Of course there ARE a few who do have some creativity, and are 'artistes' within their chosen art form, but by and large they are a buncha clueless hacks being fucked over by their record labels, managers, lawyers and accountants.

Gee....that was what was happening to black artists back in the 50s. Just axe Little Richard!

Funny how some things never change.

It's been there just no fast buck rap ripp-off airplay .
Kids these days or at least the 90's, can't have any skills with rap
dominating the airwayves.
I blame corporate radio .

I have to thank Dave for bringing this back to me, off his radio Show.
I had been so upset with rap I gave out on R&B and Soul Rock.

Honestly I listened to The R&B station all day growing up everyday .
At night I listened to Heavy Metal Rock... around my buds... you know.
Only one other cat I knew ....Got It!

Who didn't listen to R&B getting ready for a date. Looking in the mirror going,"Oh yeah! Tonight I'm going to get so LAID!" LOL! It was music about a good night out with your woman and she was a woman. Not a bitch or a ho. The men dressed nice and had class because you had to earn that ass. It wasn't a piece of property.

Rap is all about crime and theft. Stealing music to make the tracks out of. Bragging about being a criminal and treating people like shit. It's like the gates of hell opened up and demons wrote the fucking lyrics. It sucks the goodness right out of the room. Rap is of the devil. LOL!

Fucking corporate media wrote these guys off as "Living Colour" clones and never gave them the respect they deserved.

Phil Lynott rocked. Although the rest of the band were white guys, but Phil was the heart & soul of the band.

I agree with you guys about the old time R&B totally kicking ass, but there are some talented rap musicians out there.

The Beasties are paramount because they actually play instruments and made many of their best beats from their own jams. Also, as they progressed they wrote more positive lyrics. Too bad their new albums sucks balls.

Jurassic 5 are current and good. Of course they're not that popular because they're talented.

Jay-z is pretty good. His live album with the Roots is definitely a worthy purchase.

But so much is just awful. They have parody rap songs on MTV commercials sometimes and now I can't tell the fake songs from the real ones because they're all horrible.

I like practically all black music up until rap and hip hop and modern r&b (although its really just "R", and there isn't much of that).

Fishbone... I saw them set the stage on fire at a festival in the mountain in early July. Great band, they came to party with campers after their show. Real cool guys, and greatly skilled musicians.

I'll try to find something by THE METERS.

Talk about surrounding yourself with competent musicians! He could be a modern day James Brown if he wanted it bad enough.

I hear you...

This band is a Ferrari F40, but the pilot just can't drive.
However great the musicians are, there's no fucking lead. What a waste.
"I'm gonna take myself a little break"... Yep. He'd rather take a definitive one, if he can no longer do any better than that.
