The one good thing about having Wolfgang on bass is he may attract a younger generation to this band. I just wish they had 2 new songs that they could release on the radio for the tour. They could release one song in September and another one in January for hopefully will be a second leg of the tour.

My big fear is the band will wait to release a live album with Wolfgang instead of releasing a live album from '84. This would really blow.

Yeah, he may have done the bass lines, like Ed did on one of Hagar's solo CDs. But Mike was there to complement Ed's guitar, not to play intricate bass.

I highly doubt Mike, a capable and competent player on VHII for instance, some how became Ringo Starr of bass by Fairwarning. Ed was just pissed at him, like he was at Dave.

I mean, Ed also said that VH could now write in higher keys now that they (then) had Sammy Hagar, did he not?

Mike was in on both of those tracks. There's never been any indication otherwise and I've read interviews of him commenting on both tracks and playing with Dave...

I think Ed played bass on everything after that though, at least whatever was released with the other two singers...

No shit! We all say stupid things when we are mad.

I don’t buy this crap that Mike didn’t play on the classic six. It gets me when people say he sucked on bass. As a bass player myself, it was harder for me to play a tight pocket style songs like Romeo Delight or Dance the Night Away, than a speed songs like Run to The Hills or The Number of The Beast. It takes more discipline to play in the pocket than learning triplets and basic Paradiddles. Mike was right there where he needed to be, holding down the rhythm section while Ed did his thing. I’ve seen all 5 CVH headlining tours and a lot of bootlegs and let me tell you this, Mike’s tone/style of playing live, fits what was recorded in the studio. I know a lot of CVH songs, but if I was to play those songs on Mike’s bass/equipment I still wouldn’t sound like him. Because I fret, slap, pick, pluck, finger and hammer the notes different from Mike. This is the main reason why I think Mike played on those albums! Anything after that, I could care less.

Man who lied about actions in Iraq admits faking forms

Jesse MacBeth stoked opposition to the Iraq war in 2006 when he spoke out about atrocities he committed as a U.S. Army Ranger serving as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

MacBeth, 23, of Tacoma, claimed to have killed more than 200 people, many at close range, some as they prayed in a mosque. He spoke at an anti-war rally in Tacoma and appeared in a 20-minute anti-war video that circulated widely on the Internet.

Trouble is, none of MacBeth's claims was true. He made it through only six weeks of Army basic training, was never a Ranger and never set foot in Iraq.

Conservative bloggers exposed MacBeth's lies in May 2006, destroying his credibility and embarrassing the Seattle company that produced the video about his exploits.

MacBeth's comeuppance continued Thursday, when he pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Seattle to one count of making false statements to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Before becoming a public figure, MacBeth admitted, he filed a bogus claim for VA benefits in 2005 that included a fraudulent military-discharge form.

MacBeth said on the forms that he had been in the Army for more than three years and had achieved the rank of corporal. He also claimed he had been awarded a Purple Heart and that he was discharged because he suffered from post-traumatic-stress disorder.

None of those assertions was true, MacBeth acknowledged in a plea agreement. MacBeth spent 44 days as a private at Fort Benning, Ga., in 2003 but was released "for issues related to entry-level performance and conduct," according to court papers.

PepperSpray Productions in Seattle produced the video titled "Jesse MacBeth: An Iraq Veteran Speaks Out."

In the film, MacBeth told nuanced tales of brutal killings he carried out at the behest of his commanding officers.

"They would actually feel the hot muzzle of my rifle on their forehead," he reportedly said on the video, which is no longer in circulation.

The production company, which describes itself as a "video activist collective" of volunteers formed after the World Trade Organization protests in Seattle in 1999, has a link to a "Jesse MacBeth Retraction" on its home page.

The statement reads, in part: "Jesse Macbeth misrepresented to PepperSpray Productions and others his military service and was never deployed in Iraq. When we learned that Macbeth's service records were fraudulent, we immediately pulled the video and are no longer distributing it."

MacBeth, a skinny 23-year-old with close-cropped hair and a goatee, said little as he entered his guilty plea before Magistrate Judge James Donohue.

U.S. District Court Judge Robert Lasnik will sentence him Sept. 21. The maximum penalty for making false statements to the government is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Yes, in Salt Lake Fucking City. And I've never seen that brand of water (can't remember the name) anywhere other than Utah.

Utah is one of those states that's probably limited to 3.2% alcohol in beer, which means what's the point in drinking it??

Unfortunately, there's probably not enough non-Mormons statewide to get the law changed.

I've drank 3.2% beer (while in Army training), and it's not a far cry from the roughly 5% avg.

Never seen their stuff around here, but it definitely looks like an interesting product line.

I doubt I'll be in Colorado anytime soon, so hopefully some of their stuff will hit my local oddball beer distributor/Chevron station.

K, out alcohol laws are beyond crezzi. The deal with beer is as follows. All beers sold in grocery stores or 7-11's, etc. are infact 3.2% beers. Just piss and not worth the effort.

However, we have state controlled liquor stores where normal beer is sold. It's run by the state government. These state "Liquor Stores" are also the only places where we can by hard alcohol or wine.

Oh and FORD, I don't buy the Mormon's owning Coca~Cola. They're (Mormons) a very wealthy cult, I know they own Dole products but Coke's too huge. Also, I'm unaware of the bottled water as well.

Things are a bit fucked up here in some ways but not as fucked up as a lot of people make it out to be and this is coming from a non-mormon.

I'm still buzzed about seeing the press conference last week. Something I thought I'd never see, but I reckon it's a bit much when MA is replaced in photos and yet they have the hide to play tapes of his back up vocals on the upcoming tour!
