Have an opening band that you KNOW everyone in that crowd will fucking hate, in order to spin them up even more for when the Mighty Van Halen hits the stage....
They did it on ever headlining tour during the DLR era....

My girlfriend beat the snot out of him and then dumped his entire wine skin down his pants! From that point on, I didn't worry about getting to the arena right at show start time.
