I'd rather see him fronting Queen than Rodgers!

Me too..but Garry Mullen's band was pretty tight.Great act!
I remember Dave makin' fun of Rogers and doing an impression of him with B.Young on Rothradio when queen played madison square garden.
LMFAO

I think queen didn't want a Freddie lookalike or impersonator and got Rogers instead.

Inxs was the surporting act at that 86 clip.

yeah, that guy is pretty awesome.

I know I'll get slammed for this next coomment.

but, as much as I hate what Gary Cherone did to VH

Extreme tears it up doing Queen

you guys have to check him out on you tube @ the Freddie Mercury benefit concert.

He does a killer Freddy impersonation as well....with Brian May and Tony Iommi later in the concert clips.

nice find on the Gary Mullen though.

HA!

This guy won "Stars In Their Eyes" in the UK a few years back. I guess it was around 1999/2000.

And...as for him being in Queen now...NO. It'd be a BIG mistake to get a singer from a Queen tribute band. At least with Paul Rodgers on vocals, they've got a shot at doing something different and real, rather than a carbon copy of something in the past. I'm happy to support Q+PR as a supergroup rather than Queen (hence all the Free and Bad Co. numbers in the set, plus "Last Horizon" from Brian's first proper solo album)...although I would have liked it if they'd have got Mick Ralphs on second Guitar and they'd have called it Queen and Company.

well..Brian May said it at one point at a Seville Spain concert with Vai,Satriani and Extreme..
He goes:If anybody knows what queen is about blabla these next guys are called extreme..
Then they play more than words.
May was talking bout the harmony voices etc of the first album pornografitti by extreme..:D
Brian may should be slammed for saying it..lol :P

I thought Pornograffitti was the second album

I dunno...but it was when Pornografitti came out..They played more than words and Brian May was all over them in Seville.
I saw them too in Holland.
I'm sorry.

I was so into Nuno's guitar playing.
Get the funk out solo rocked my world then and I bet if I put it on now I'd still love t.

Is stars in their eyes like american idols type of show?

Sort of...

You probably have a version of it where you are.

It's a show were members of the public impersonate another singer.

So...Gary Mullen was Freddie Mercury

James Smith from Derby would be Billy Joel

Diane White from Surrey would be Joni Mitchell

etc...

I saw him headlining a local festival (he is Scottish).

His "moustache" kept falling off.

You`d think if he was a professional impersonator then he`d grow a real one.

Maybe he doesn`t want to be recognized?

Yea...all that exposure he got when he said "Tonight, Matthew, I'm gonna be Freddie Mercury" really changed his life.,,he hasn't been able to walk the street without people not recognising him.
