I just saw a date posted for him to play a place in Indy called The Winner's Circle. What a fucking dump. Now I never liked Warrant to begin with so I think it's totally hilarious he's playing this shithole. The Winner's Circle is a good ol' boy bar that holds about 100 renecks max, but it's usually just the 5 or 6 regulars who sit there all day. LOL! I play better clubs than that. What a loser.

The best part is that Warrant is playing a decent venue just a month or so before he comes to Indy.

Years ago, a band hubby was playing with opened for Warrant. Janie Lane was singing for them then, and it was in a small dump.

Janie was incredibly nice. Hell, the whole band was just awesome especially to hubby's band. But Janie's fuse was extremely short with the club staff.

But it was obvious that he had "issues". He was so incredibly humble that he came off as almost ashamed.

Yeah..... If I went from playing 20,000 seaters to 100 people standing room only I'd be humble too. I've heard the dude has issues with coke and major alcohol problems. I've played with a bunch of the "has beens" and "once was's" and most of them are pretty cool but a lot of them have issues with losing thier fame. Most of them spent the cash back in the day thinking it would go on forever. A bunch of them are wasted assholes because they let their demons get the best of them. Lord knows I battle my own demons day in and out when not travelling. It's hard not to bring it home.

I'm just dumbfounded that a guy who wrote and recorded a couple hits like that is settling for such a shitty gig. There are better places to play where he could draw more people in Indy than that shithole. Dude needs to fire his yes-man and start booking his own shows.

Tell me, what is it about fame that makes you loathe it?

That's what I got from Janie. He didn't say, "I don't wanna be known as the 'Cherry Pie guy'" on MTV first, he said it to us that night.

WTF? You're in the game for fame right? Why turn it on yourself like that? If people like the music then ....

Who knows. If people don't want to be famous and have all the responsibilities (and perks) that go with it then they should just get out. Kurt Cobain should have done that instead of kill himself if he was so miserable over the fame. Jani Lane is probably 40-43 y.o. and has to see that his music career is what it is. Make the most out of it. But getting booked in places like this just looks bad on him and to other promoters as well. As much as he'd like to drop the stigma of Cherry Pie, that is the song 95% or more of the people that see him live want to hear.

Got a picture of your house, your standin' by the door, it's black and white and faded and it's lookin pretty worn.......

Well...when you're in a certain position, generally speaking any gig is a good gig, as long as you're at least breaking even...

Quiet Riot played here a few years back to like 13 people or so...5 or 6 by the time the show was over...

Beats working, I guess... :)

I put him in the same league as Bret Michaels: when he tries to be taken seriously, or thinks his music has any depth, I just burst out laughing.

It is what it is - feelgood rock music.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I saw this guy's band in Detroit recently with several other groups of old dudes. He had two kick ass guitarists and actually gave a good show. He got smoked by Dokken though...even without Lynch.

I remeber he was Crying about the song "Cherry Pie" on some VH1 show..and it really showed him as sort of being a Jerk...You know how many Unknown Hair Bands Would've LOVED to have had a Hit Rekkid like that...The other guys in Warrant seem to know that at least..

He was cool when I met him 8 years ago! At his club opening ... the club lasted about 6 months!<br>

He's towing around some 17 year old kid on guitar. They just played a club across from my favorite watering hole recently and I couldn't be bothered to walk across the street with a free ticket. Uggh

I'm not a music snob. I gave up snobbery a long time ago.

Pop music is pop music. Intellectuals listen to classical.

No, I try not to kid in THIS forum. lol

Actually, I have none of their albums, just a few songs on compilations here and there.

Throwaway tunes, nonetheless.

I think NOT! Not sure. Him and Robin Crosby are twin brothers and Robin's gone so that's who we might be thinking of! I'll never forget Robin in the DVD THE DECLINE of the WESTERN CIVILIZATION! He's floating on a lounge chair in a pool and says he'd rather be a smaller star! LOL! He's about 7 feet tall but I don't think he was refering to that!

Lane and Warrant jumped on the power ballad bandwagon from the word go, and made a conscious decision to let creating lasting, quality music take a backseat to success as a hairband.

Kinda hard to feel sorry for the guy. He made his choice. If he doesn't wanna be known as the Cherry Pie guy, well, he can always stop playing 100 seater shitholes and get real jobs like the rest of us...

Wasn't the tubby bitch studying to be a chef, or working in a restaurant at some point after Warrant cratered?

It's hard to imagine that he needs money, but I suppose he could have made bad financial decisions or something.

I really don't see what's wrong with being the Cherry Pie guy, I really don't. Jani should embrace it - most people are familiar with something he did, whether its a piece of shit or not...

He would probably prefer being called the "Uncle Toms Cabin Guy"!

I met Jani Lane as well. He was a nice guy.
Too bad he let drugs/booze control his life. It costed him his career and respect from the industry as well. I feel bad when that happens to people. It's humbling for him to say the least.

Being in Warrant is what made the industry lose their respect for Mr. CherryPie.

Because Warrant was a bunch of suck from the start. Poison too. And a long list of others from that hair band era as well.
