In the spirit of Mr Badguy's JP Live thread,

I was thinking about these two live albums today.
Live & Dangerous VS Life [Live]

I have problems with Life [Live] there just seems to be no spark there at all. Also the mix is just a bit weak.

Just wondered what people thought of these two Lizzy live albums back to back.

"Live and dangerous" is regarded as some (not me, though) as the greatest live album ever so anyone would struggle to follow it.

However, I quite like "Life".

It`s got a lot of the later Lizzy stuff on it and side 4 with all the ex-guitarists joing in is fantastic.

Another to track down would be "BBC-live at Reading `83", their final British show.

The tracklist is shorter and the playing a bit shambolic but the atmosphere is all there.

I forgot all about that CD - Will track it down.

It was a shame Phil called it quits back then when they had just recruited John Sykes who gave them a guitar hero onstage
(I thought Snowy White sucked)

I thought John played a blinder with the old material,
But if i had to choose I would have to pick Brian Robertson (by a nose)

Life contains great songs:

Holy War, Got to give it up, Killer On The Loose, Sun Goes Down

Perfect additions to L&D.

It's a pity that the mix is muffled.

I agree those are great tracks.

It's a shame the record compny haven't done a remix/remaster on it.

Live and Dangerous takes this one, though not by much.

I have to agree with Badguy that it is a little over-rated. It seems a little drawn out in some parts, like the guitar solos in "i'm still in love with you"...

Just my opinion, as I know some people love it...

I find the mix of "Live and dangerous" a bit muddy in places, particularly side 4.

I don`t have a big problem with the sound of "Life".

Phil and Scott Gorham were both whacked out of their minds on drugs which contributes to the less-than-great performances but it doesn`t sound that bad.
