    The biggest bomb ever exploded

This son of a bitch was 4 times larger than the US ever exploded. A 50 kiloton hydrogen bomb (that's ten time's all the explosives used during WWII!) the soviets dropped from a Bear bomber which barely survived the shock wave when it his the plane. The shock wave continued to rotate the earth three fucking times!

Pretty much an expensive, superfluous statement of propaganda that was useless as a real weapon...

Well I think if Saddam blew one of those we wouldn't have invaded Iraq.

Actually it was 50 Megatons, not kilotons.

I wonder if all of the crew from that Bear Bomber are still alive?

I think the biggest operational nukes were about 9 megatons, designed to blow up missile silos. I don't even know if the Ruskies still use 'em...

it was SUPPOSED to be 100 megatons, but the soviets scaled it back for fear of fallout.

if 50 megatons was too big to deliver effectively (and nick's right, it was) 100 megatons would've just been silly. loud bang, but downright silly.

I know that the largest warheads in the US inventory are 500 kiloton, which are used on Minuteman III ICBM's. Believe it or not, the USMC use to have a nuclear weapons inventory, which consisted of nukes the size of a conventional tactical bomb. They were designed to be loaded onto aircraft that could carry heavy loads such as the A-6 Intruder, F/A-18 Hornet or even the AV-8B Harrier.

I thought the biggest bomb ever exploded was the 2004 reunion tour.
