I think he's kinda over-doing it on the Flange AND the wah, but hey....
Still playing better than he has in years, IMO....Originally posted by conmee

I found the wah irritating, quite frankly....and completely unnecessary.
But it's no surprise to find that he has one coming out on the market, and he's deliberately using it on the tour to generate the kind of "buzz" that is now happening in this very thread.
In fact, I believe that there's a lot of "marketing" going on during the show. I caught the 10/1 show in Philly, and while it was very subtle, they were throwing the "EVH" brand at you at several points during the show.
Frequently, they would "cross-fade" several cameras on the big screen, and invariably one of the cameras would be set to a close-up of the EVH tag on the amps, or the EVH tag on Eddie's guitar strap, or Eddie's sneakers (red, black, white striped).
An attempt to be "artsy?" Perhaps. But I really think it was more of an attempt to sell the EVH brand.Originally posted by perilouspete

I wish Eddie would have done the EVH brand thing in the 1980's. How cool would that have been? I hated his Kramer endorsement because he never played the guitars Kramer made.
Why not an EVH model with the right setup and pickups?
I'm pretty happy with my EVH phase 90 and flanger. The amps he endorses seem to be good quality but the price on the 5150 III is too much for what it is.
There's two products I would love to see Eddie market. An EVH Floyd Rose that is as good quality as the original ones with the D-Tuner incorporated on it and a EL-84 powered low voltage amps voiced to get Ed's classic sound from the 70's and 80's. Both of those would be cool products. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Could you just imagine what something like this would cost with the "EVH" tag on it???CVH LIVE (OAK/SF) '78, '79(X2), '80(X2) +MOR, '81(X3), '82, USFest '83, '84 & 2007!

The wah is sort of annoying since I never heard it on any of the classic van halen tunes. Maybe he was fucking around with it a lot on the Hagar shit. I never paid enough attention really, but it just seems to me that this whole tour is just a way for Ed to push his products and get closer to his son."I've always been academic. OK, here's one for you guys: I love my EVH Phase90, but wasn't into the Flanger enough to buy one,
mostly because I had the "Unchained" setting (or 'Hear About It Later', for that matter) close enough in the MXR Flange model on my Line6 MM-4.
Is it worth owning separately? I've only demoed them at stores, never tried one through my own rig,
but the preset didn't sound right to my ears...
Would be curious to try the Wah...I'm already contemplating ditching my (not so) old VOX for a Clyde McCoy version with the Fasel inductor...Originally posted by conmee
