    Russian Bombers Buzzing US Coastline

US Jets Intercept Russian Planes Off Alaskan Coast Save Email Print

    Russian Warplanes Exercise Near Alaska

(October 2, 2007)—The North American Aerospace Command has released video of US fighter jets intercepting a Russian bomber off the coast of Alaska on Sept. 7.

It’s the first US interception of a Russian plane since Russian officials announced they were resuming flights this summer in that area.

NORAD officials say that while they don’t consider Russia a threat, they do have a responsibility to remain vigilant.

NORAD no longer considers Russia a threat?

    Really?

    Welp, I feel more secure.....

It's some new Sabre-rattling since Russia feels ignored and irrelevant...

Agreed, but imagine if things went a little too far...

Naw. They used to do this to test fighter response times and air defenses.

Just imagine the sequel to the "Cuban Missile Crisis" with Chimpy in the White House.

Even a Devil is terrorized by that prospect.

LOL I'm afraid the rickety old Russian bombers will crash and we'll get blamed for it!

Actually, those old Bear bombers are pretty tough...

This is that "more assertive foreign policy" that Putin has been talking about. Thing is, he'd never see ours coming.

It's Putin telling us to fuck ourselves. In the 1990's NATO wanted Russia to join but they declined. We had good relations with Russia and even President Putin before Bush invaded Iraq and Bush started our missle deffense progam back up.

Russia see's us as a country out of control invading sovern nations and being controlled by the old NATO guard.

Nuclear bombers are pretty much outdated because of advances in radar technology and missle technology. Politicians still use them to send a message. ICBM's prefferably ones based on submarines are the favored nuclear warhead delivery system.

This is all another result of Bushco's horrendouse arrogance and wreaklessness. That fucking fake cowboy is going to ruin our economy and possibly get millions of us killed. Fuckhead!
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

actually, i'm not worried about russia at all. at this point, they want to show us and the world that they're not pushovers, but they have zero incentive to actually attack the U.S.

Those Bear Bombers are loud as hell also. Crews who have flown in it have gone deaf later in their military career. And it can even be detected by submarines underwater. The B-1, Harrier, Tomcat, Prowler and even the Hornet have nothing on the Bear as far as decibles are concerned. Although I've never been near a bear bomber.

Yup! They suck now, but they're still here...

Didn't Seattle have a team for a short time?

And the bomber fly-by thing is normal protocol. They've done this thousands of times during the Cold War, they just haven't done it as much lately.
