The CD player is 25 years old this month.

So what was the first CD you bought?

Me, that's easy, Laura Branigan's "Touch" from 1987:

    Christ,

    Mine was Young M.C.

or The D.O.C. Sometime in 1989, I think.

          "1984" actually...

And CDs date to 1979, with the technology beginning in 1972...

Diver rules, but it's my least favorite VH CD.

My first CD was Beethoven's 9th Symphony. (it came with the CD player)

But right after that, I went out and bought Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and the Rolling Stones "Exile on Main Street" among others. This was some time in late 1986, so a lot of the early purchases were reissues of older albums.

The first "new" album that stands out in memory was Billy Idol's "Whiplash Smile" and after that U2's "The Joshua Tree". Couldn't believe how fantastic that one sounded

I bought 3 the day I bought a player. Rush - Moving Pictures, Van Halen 1 and Scorpions - Blackout. Still remember buying those everytime I pull them out. And replaced everyone of them eventually with the remasters. But those copies will always stay around.
