View Full Version : Biggest Surprise - Dave or Eddie ?? Wolf or Alex ??

I gotta admit,

Both Dave and Ed have far exceeded my
positive expectations, is one of them outshining
the other ?? Or are they both nailing it equally ??

I put Wolf and Alex on Poll just in case somebody
was even more surprised by them....

To me Alex is as solid as a rock, so he never really
surprises... (Thats a compliment to Big Al !)

Hmmm...

That's kinda hard at this point...

But, based on the Cleveland crappily recorded U-Toobs, Edward is easily the biggest suprise, especially considering 2004...

Dave has also exceeded my expectations to a fairly high degree, sounding younger than he has in years and even hitting several worthy screams...

I'll leave some of my negative comments in a thread in the near future...;)

Eddie.

Because I knew that Dave wasn't going to fuck this up and would ensure that he was the best he could possibly be.....

I wasn't too sure if Ed would be sober long enough to improve.

I went with Dave, he has surprised me more..
Eddie has been Eddie with that band forever,
Dave has just returned and yet is bringin it
home bigtime...

If we dont get a new album next year, it will
almost be as criminal as the wait we have endured
for all of this !!!

Eddie is awesome too, not the same Eddie that shared
a stage with the Hagar Halves a few years back...

Dave has performed better than he has in years...and so is Ed...I expected as much from Dave and hoped as much From Ed after rehab.

But...the biggest surprise for me has been Wolfie.

Didn't expect him to be as good as he is.

Good luck to him...

? A bit baffled as to why DAVE seems to surprise?

He's been constantly touring most summers and each year he's improved his voice, his look, and simply putting on a better show. He did a very impressive Summer Tour '06, kicking the asses of CBS and sending the message that he didn't need the radio gig. His voice sounded great, displayed the motorcycle impression, threw on a Sinatra-style fedora hat for alittle bluesy razz-matazz. With Dave, no surprise...he's consistent with striving to give us his best... succeeds.

I think Ed is the biggest surprise in his display of brotherly love towards Dave that actually looks sincere.

I'm loving it!

The biggest surprise is that they didn't work through all their shit in 1996.

Eddie. After meeting him in 2004 and seeing his condition and playing and then seeing how he was at the start of this year I thought that he may be either dead or 100% burnt by now. He has made a pretty dramatic turnaround. Dave has surprised me too because he looks and sounds better than he did in 1996.

I'd have to call this a draw.....

Eddie for fully recovering from Trainwreck 2004.

Dave for looking like he never left (aside from the natural aging process that none of us are immune to)

I'm not surprised .... Dave is where he belongs and Ed has a reason to stay sober ... appears once he has sobered - he realized what he'd been missing. All this and we know this has been in the works since end of last year ... but none the less. DAVE ROCKS.

to paraphrase ELVIS i would say "Edward is easily the biggest suprise, especially considering 2004"

I think that Dave has a lot to do with Ed state of mind because Dave breathes life into the music; that's fundamental...and that's why i love him so much!!! :D

Dude, considering your name's sake died a fat fuck, Dave is doing awesome. I don't think he'll be croaking while taking a shit any time soon. In light of that, there is nothing negative for you to say. :D

Hmmm........... but oh how he will find a way...............

For me it's gotta be Wolf because I don't expect less from Dave and with Ed it's way too early to tell.

Time will tell, but for now?

"The Rage" has performed above my expectations. Not alot of grandstanding by either party involved....so far. IMHO, Dave and Ed are choking down the same bitter pills....without heartburn.

Al & Wolfie?

They're watching the other two.

Damn, I think the point is moot. It's enough for me that they got through the Charlotte show. That was a once in a lifetime, pay-per-view moment if there ever was one. It's really just a bonus If I get to actually use my ticket in 16 days.

Funny, the year they declare rap dead is the same year two "dinosaur" bands go on tour. I just hope kids start picking up an actual guitar instead of a Nintendo joystick.

I concur! Wolf is the hat trick. Dave and EVH are like magic when you mix their styles. I think Wolf is brilliant enough to throw in some millenium hardcore if they give him the room to do it. Afterall, that is a totally kickass setlist he picked and he's not some arrogant schlub..he's got musician written all over him.

Yeah, thats a good call! I like all eras of Eds playing, but he was best with Dave singing. I guess that's true again the way hes playing inspired like. The contrast of 2004 vs 2007 shows that Dave can push Ed the way noone else can.

Wolf is a bit of a Dark Horse here !

Good on him !

Gettin a few votes....

He is doing exactly as I imagined, nothing more,
nothing less, so he hasnt really surprised me at all.

But I guess some doubters would be surprised ?

I felt when Dave was cool with it, that the kid must
have the goods..

Cant decide !
BOTH ???
Dave hasnt sang like that in years , Never when I have seen him solo.
Ed looked like the return of the dead trailer at dimebags funeral.
Thought ed was gonna be next. But I think he may be back from the brink. He looks clean and sober and his playing is much better than was reported on the spammy tour of 04.
