Dudes! After watching all the you tube shit and feeling the vibe of greatness. I am thinking we have a steller cd on our hands in the making. Edward is playing like his early self and Dave is singing on top of his game. I think after the tour they will be in the right frame of mind to give us 1984's follow up album I say. What do you basterds think bout that? ahhh!

I dont think that they are a band that could keep the fans interested in new material.

this tour is getting reunion scores of cash and attendance but I think anything new would be a let down to what they have done.

How did the new tunes do? CGTSNM and MWM? Good music, but I dont think they'd crack the chart these days.

But I'd love to hear some new shit. Along with remasters of really old shit. Complete Box set. Unreleased. all six albums. a new one. a dvd compilation from different concerts from '77 club days to 84 along with a compete 07 reunion tour dvd.

If they make the cash through the live shows, then who cares
if a new CD charts ? It will be done out of love, not necessity.
And that CD, I *WANT* to hear..

Bring it on...

The record co. cares about the charts. Or if they self produce some shit, then they'll care about the sales and marketing.

Im just talking about the business side of things. The band would prob love to continue playing and recording. But if your best sales pitch is going to be "I heard ya missed us we're back", then I will gaurantee only the loyalists will spend their money. They need to "Rolling Stones" themselves. Put out tunes that will attract a new generation of rock fans. Possibly knock some of that NickleHack off the charts and bring the true r n r grit back to pop culture like they did in the 80's. Time to carve out another groove on the headboard of rock and roll boys.

If I were Ed or Dave Id be talking about cleaning up Big Trouble and Put Out the Lights & We Die Bold. For a new CD. Maybe a new Kinks cover song for shits and gigs. I nominate "I Need You". Track 2 could even be a new Ed solo.

good point.

I think the best we can hope for is a single. They will push their best efforts and if it's a hit (by radio airply standards) then we could see an album and another tour.

Love the album idea though.

It's the distribution & marketing part that requires the BIG gun's...

I don't think the sisters OR Dave would risk any of their thickened 401K's on any self-promoted/marketed venture, and they shouldn't have to!! Just HOW successful it could possibly be (IF the meds continue to work..) is pure speculation...

If they went public, I'm not sure I'd be floating six figures their way at this juncture of the ball game!!

I'll certainly buy the fuckin' tracks tho'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who needs distribution and marketing ?
Just ask Coldplay and Prince...

They could record an album at 5150, and get it out
there to the fans without making any dent on their
profits..

I bet Warners would fall over themselves to have
a go at this one, if traditional distribution is what
they chose...

ColdPlay? yuk.

Prince is prima donna'ish... I dont think VH are close to recreating religion and living in a cave of obscurity.

As for producing your own music, it's still a major gamble. I think they prob should have put out at least a single with this tour and listened for the reaction when the single was played live. That would have told them at least some of the audience was there for the new stuff.

Now they wont know until they spend their money and wait for the results. But I do recall David (a few years ago) talking about having songs downloaded from his site' as a novel idea without having to pay big bucks to the recording companies or labels. Maybe he can convince Ed & Al the same? I dunno.

so do i.

i have many old black and white horror films.

the oldest is a silent film from 1925 starring lon cheney, the man of 1,000 faces(see kiss' gene simmons 1978 solo album) entitled
"PHANTOM OF THE OPERA". it is the original.
a fucking classic.

Having worked at majors for years and years I'll tell you this. hHis tour proved some things:
1. VH can still deliver live
2. VH can still fill an arena with 20.000 people
3. The interest for VH is still huge

This means that the VH stock has gone up substantially on the market. And they would NEVER release an album on the net or similar. Why? Because they don't need to. There is still a lot of money at the majors when needed. And the advance they would get for a new album + a compilation and maybe a DVD would be ridicilous. And it's all part of the plan my friends.

About the single, nobody like Van Halen releases just a single. The single is just one thing, a marketing tool supposed to create attention for something that is coming; THE album. Because, the single generates no cash. It's the album that will bring in the bucks. And they will lose money on the downloads, but look and see all of a sudden the album will be released two weeks earlier than the original scheduled date. Just to cut some of the downloads.. Some albums will be bougth more than others. This would be one of them...
