I have been trying to get into here for days, and it's so slow that i get a white screen of death. do i have a problem on my end or is it that this place has been jumpin lately because of the reunion and it is standing room only. lol

ain't your end... servers here are slower than a new passport application...

must be related to all the new 'tour' traffic...

We were hoping you were going to get the hint, Oz......

;)

I have basic DSL, and pages sometimes load as if I'm using a 14.4 modem with spliced lines and a commodore.

Can imagine what some peeps still on dial up are dealing with.

I remember a couple of years ago we were seeing 1,300+ users at a time, so I dont think it's all traffic...

Just more time to drink more beer between loads.

Ive noticed the faster the connection, the better this place
works.. From my main office, (mega fast connection)
I get the occasional white screen (Which I believe is
an imcompatibility problem between our older version
of V-Bulletin and the ISP's web server software)

However from standard DSL connections I get
white pages all over the shop...

Loungeman ! 14.4 k ??

Keep that, the Smithsonian will be after that shortly....

If you can, maybe wipe and reload everything, and use a Firefox browser...

This thing is pretty ticky for me. Sometimes the Forums are (mostly) fast, like tonight. Other times, things seem to 'time-out' and 'hang' a lot, and it seems to not have a lot to do with how many peoples are on...

Software upgrade would definately be in order.

One thing you could do short term that would make a huge difference... is shut off the image links in titles and signatures.

While it's entertaining to see the various hottie shots... every page view has to go out all over the net and link/load all of those large images and resize to the user's screen resolution. That's a shitload of unescessry overhead both for your web server/host bandwidth plus your user's end systems to handle in caching each page load.
