From Van Halen's eponymous 1978 debut through their colossal 1984 album (both selling over 10 million copies), the band rewrote all the rules. Nobody rocked or partied harder. Photographer Neil Zlozower first met the band in 1978, worked with them again on Van Halen II, and soon became their friend, hanging out in L.A. and hitting the road on tour with them. Van Halen collects more than 250 backstage, candid, and full rock-out photos of the all-powerful, spandexed, high-kicking, guitar blazing, stadium-shaking, original Van Halen lineup. Accompanying Zlozower's amazing photos are an introduction about his wild ride with VH, a foreword by David Lee Roth, and testimony from the rock pantheon paying homage to the band, including members of Led Zeppelin, Guns 'n' Roses, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, KISS, Motley Cr e, and more.
I saw this exact book at a barnes and noble here in Seattle last winter spring. It must have been part of the short run of books they printed before the project was temporarily shelved to increase the page/picture count. I'm 100% positive this was the book I saw on the shelf. I know a few were pressed before the decision was made to recall it and make a new one slightly better. I don't know the behind the story reasons for this. I'm sure the coming tour and the band had something to do with it.
Glad a better version is coming out with even more photos as I was kicking myself for not getting it at the time.

You've got that right! Put down the Ian Christie book. Get this book and put it on permanent display on your coffee table....ZLOZ Rocks! He's a great guy and a fan. He knows CVH inside/out and his photography captures the essence of this band.

About time...
I spoke to Zloz back in May about the book and he told me the book was being delayed so that he can add more photos to the book and he went with a different publisher than originally chosen.....this is why the delay occurred.
