Speaking of 1987 is there a special addtion of the Whitesnake self titled album?

How about Dokken "Back for the Attack". I always like the title track of the album, but the damn song was not released on the album.

I think that's an '08 thing. I recall hearing somewhere that there would be an extended Rattle & Hum and then Red Rocks next year - and the 3-D thing in January as well. I suspect Red Rocks would need a lot of work to make it DVD - ready - possibly why it's last on the list.

BTW - looks like the live DVD has some making of docs as well as an alternate With Or Without You video and the un-released Red-Hill video.

Yeah. And why'd the ZooTV and PopMart ones take so long to come out on DVD?

Good thing U2's re-releasing this, and not just remastering it. I don't think they've made quite enough money off it.

But then, if Van Halen did something similar, we'd have a collective creaming of the drawers here...

I'll probably buy this anyway. I already have the original CD, and the singles that were released, but the last 5 songs on Disc 2 haven't been released at all in any form, as far as I know.

The DVD from Paris doesn't look like the complete show, but it's probably going to be remastered and 5.1 and all that, unlike that chopped up version of VH's US Festival that seems to be selling legally in overseas markets now.

Speaking of which, U2 should release their own set from the US Festival as well. I'm not sure how long of a set list they got there (not exactly being headliners at the time) but their performance was great from what I've seen of it. Might make a great bonus disc for the Red Rocks DVD, since the performances were only a few days apart.

                  I'll probably buy it too...

I once read that Bono and the Edge were hitchhiking in the American southwest, mostly as sort of a lark. An excited young kid picked them up and wanted to show off his great car stereo too them, so he blasted "Joshua Tree." After realizing that half of U2 was probably sick of that, he changed the tape too Def Leppard's "Hysteria." Both the Edge and Bono were shocked and embarrassed as to how shit the production quality their album was in comparison...

One of the little events that launched them into the "Auchtung Baby" era...

They released "Spanish Eyes" as a flipside. Local Detroit radio stations played the shit out of it.

"Silver and Gold" came from "Rattle & Hum"

There are actually 3 versions of Silver & Gold - the original "sun city" version which is just Bono & Keith Richards, a band version that was a b-side, and then the live Rattle & Hum version. I belive the one on the new set is the original with Bono & Keith.

The first 8 songs on Disc 2 were B-sides from Joshua Tree - era singles. Some of them were also released on the 2 disc edition of "Best of U2 1980-1990"

This version of "Silver and Gold" (track 5) is the studio version of the one on Rattle and Hum.

Track 9 is the version from the Sun City benefit album and its not U2, but Bono with Keith Richards and Ron Wood. It was recorded at the "last minute" for that record, so the track isn't even listed on the cover, at least on the original pressing.
