Hey Dave beat out a dead guy! right on... My faith in VH1 has been restored.

Dave is and always will be the number 1 frontman/entertainer for my generation, no matter how many polls, lists and awards they assemble.

I remember in an issue in Classic Rock magazine a few years ago on the Great Frontman Of All Time, Dave again landed the #4 spot behind (3) Robert Plant, (2) Freddie Mercury, and (1) Bon Scott.

Entertainment Weekly just did a list of top frontmen and women. It is a list of 31.?. You can't just view a complete list, you have to click on them individually and there is a little write up about each one. Dave is 25 on the list, but it doesn't look like they listed them in any certain order. It's not strickly rock. Here's a link.

Well much of the ones I see in the stores here, apart from the guitar mags, would usually have bloody Beyonce or that Mika clown on the covers, so I don't I guess we're a little low on music mags too. :D

Seriously, though, you should try look good for Classic Rock (I think the Aussie version is called Total Rock, but essentially the same, Classic Rock is from UK) it's probably best hard rock magazine out there.

That would be my problem with Elvis been no.1. If the poll was "Top Ten Entertainers", then it would be different....

I think it will be Jagger and/or Freddie Mercury.. VH1 loves QUEEN

SPOILER ALERT

I saw the program. Diamond Dave was 4th... Freddie Mercury (WTF?!?) was #2 and Mick Jagger was #1.

They played the Panama video for Dave. What a classic. I love it when Michael Anthony comes out of nowhere after the "ease the seat back" vocal. And the blow dryer on Eddie.

Many bands such as Bon Jovi, Poison, Warrant, etc. stole their video schtick from Van Halen's 3 videos from 1984.

I strongly agree. Elvis is and always will be the greatest frontman of all time. Okay the general populace may not agree, but I think Diamond Dave is number two.

My top 10 would be as follows....

Elvis
Mick
Daltrey
Morrison
Plant
Bowie
Mercury
Scott (as in Bon)
Rotten
Roth
Bono

Now before anyone screams about Dave ranking too low on the list, let it be known that my list is ranked chronologically, and nothing else. In other words, in my opinion these are the 10 most influential frontmen in rock n roll ranked by order of appearance.

I didn't put anybody in from bands like the Beatles or Pink Floyd, because they didn't have one obvious frontman.

Oops... my list has 11? Well blame that on Spinal Tap. I was just listening to "Hell Hole".

BTW, this is really more a "House of Music" thread than a Van Halen/DLR topid.

I guess youre right?... Still if you think that The bitch from the Sex Pistols is better than Dave you're education must have been extremely lacking

Put down the crack pipe and read what I said again.

The list is in chronological order.

The Sex Pistols released their album in 1977.

Van HALEN released theirs in 1978.

Now, are you on the right page yet?
