    Guitar Fix Up

so my girlfriend surprised the hell out of me this christmas and got me a vintage sunburst nick valensi riviera!!! not the new cheaper model either. anyways i thought it would loof better without the pickguard which i assume most of you know what it looks like. picture a les paul pickguard. so i take off the pickguard all is fine and then i take off that little metal thing on the side that holds it up and find that the paint is chipped because it was obviouslt on to tight. now the size of the chip is real small.

so what can i use to fix it or should i just leave it???

ill try to get dome pictures up

Personally I would just leave it too. It's too small to really notice unless you're up close and like it's been said people will pay for that kind of shit nowadays.

You can use high quality super glue to fill in chips. Stewartmac.com is a good source of information on such things. I use a glue called Hot Stuff on my guitars. If anything, a little glue will keep more paint from chipping off.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Play it and enjoy it. People do pay extra for the aged look. LOL!
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

Might have a hard time with that, as

                        A) Removing the pickguard was most likely what caused the damage...

                        B) Were the pickguard reinstalled, the "defect" would not be visible.

Actually, if you slap the pickguard back on and didn't tell them what you did,
-just that you didn't LIKE it, chances are you could return it.
But if you walk in there telling them basically "I decided to take off the pickguard and fucked up the finish"
(Because regardless of whether the bracket was on too tight, YOU removed it...that would fall under a "destructive modification" ) they will probably give you grief.
Can you tell I was a guitar salesman for some time?
Anyway, I'd keep it...patch it, leave it alone, whatever...

Then don't. Just get over it. You'll probably grow to love the thing.
If I obsessed on every little ding on my guitars (and a few of them are still fairly pristine, mind you), I'd be in trouble...

Take a screw driver and scratch up the paint; then that little chip will be the least of your problems.
