Anyone remember a band from the 80's called Y&T

So I was listening to the Launchcast Hair Flair station today, and this song comes on which I've heard before. I've never paid too much attention to it before since I thought it was Sammy Hagar, but I happened to look at the artist and song title and was surprised to see that it was a band called Y&T, and the song was "Summertime Girls". Now take a listen to this and tell me this guy doesn't sound like Hagar (poor guy)!

You know what's really funny? That almost looks like Van Halen at the very first of the video...looks like Michael Anthony on the far left in the yellow shirt, Eddie on the far right, Dave second from the right, and Alex second from the left!

He does sound a bit like Hagar, but Sam's voice is more female, coupled with a nervous vibrato.

Could be better, though. Less synth, for example...

Y & T are a good band. Dave Meneketti is a great guitar player and not a bad singer. Summertime Girls is their most "pop" song when they were trying to get MTV time. Listen to Black Tiger or Mean Streak. Good stuff.

Don't Stop Runnin' is a good song too.

I love Y&T. They were one of the first bands I ever saw live. Saw them with Motley Crue on Theater of Pain. Down for the Count was a good album. Don't Stop Runnin is probably my fave from them. Good find bro. I started listening to them again a few months ago. Good stuff.

The only song I remember was "Summertime Girls". I always wondered if they named the band after the Beatles "Yesterday & Tomorrow".

Y&T have some kickass stuff.

Roth's solo band drummer Jimmy DeGrasso was the drummer in Y&T for many years.

Check out the Y&T live record. One of the best live albums ever. Meniketti and Stef Burns rip on guitar and Jimmys drumming is amazing.

You will not be dissappointed. They still tour quite a bit with a new line up. FOunders Dave and Phil are still there though.

Their early output was great stuff. Then they went into total cheese with that Down For the Count album and that Summertime Girls shit. For a while they had the ugliest drummer in rock...reminded me of the keyboard player in Spinal Tap.

The album Contagious was more cheese.

They still tour apparently.

Y&T, why do I know them... oh yeah, me mate's band Avenger supported them a few years back. They're not too bad, I think I might have listened to them once and twice when I was younger. None special!

Liked their early stuff ,Hurricane and Black Tiger. Mean Streak wasn't bad either. Meniketti and Leonard Haze were the pulse of that band.
Didn't they fire Haze because he could'nt be "prettied up " for the fuckin MTV nation ?
And when they brought out that chrome mascot thing , that was enough for me. See ya.
"Summertime girls" and the rest were pure shit , right up there with Hagar and Autograph. :uck:
