LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Roy Scheider, a one-time boxer whose broken nose and pugnacious acting style made him a star in "The French Connection" and who later uttered one of cinematic history's most memorable roles in "Jaws," has died.
Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, hospital spokesman David Robinson said. He was 75.
The hospital did not release a cause of death, but Scheider had been treated for multiple myeloma at the hospital's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy for the past two years.
Scheider earned two Academy Award nominations—a best-supporting nod for 1971's "The French Connection" in which he played the police partner of Oscar winner Gene Hackman, and a best-actor nomination for 1979's "All That Jazz," the semi-autobiographical Bob Fosse film. ...
I have the vhs tape of 2010 which is an awsome movie.
Roy is in it.
Just saw he was in the naked lucnh by David Cronenberg.
Guess I'm gonna rent that soon.
He was really one of my favorite actors.
Also protested against Vietnam en iraq war.
Pretty cool for someone who was in the airforce.

They have everything FORD ! Even mechanical Sharks !!!
He will be in Universal Studios for eternity !
Jaws is the only film I have seen him in, that was
a great performance and movie, even if it does look dated now..
(If ever there was a movie they could digitally enhance,
it should be JAWS !!)

You should check out 'The French Connection' in which he co-stars with Gene Hackman, bloody great movie and Scheider plays a great role as his side-kick.
The first movie I saw him in was The Seven Ups back in the early 70's. My Mom took me to an afternoon matinee. Great shoot 'em up flick.
A great actor ,he will be missed!
I grew up on the Emerald Coast and lived here pretty much my entire life except for when I was in the military. After my parents got divorced my mom moved to Destin, Fl where they filmed a good portion of Jaws 2. My stepbother and I would always go to the shark tournaments they held every summer just to see who got the big one.
Jaws is an undeniable classic and I still watch it every now and again when the mood strikes. I think I'll put it on in tribute.
The local paper ran a story on him after he passed. He would eat at this little mom and pop italian place every afternoon while in town. Him and the owner would talk for hours about anything and everything but never once about acting. The owner said about him, "He was a genuine fellow. The opposite of what I expected. With all the conversations we had I really would not have known he was an actor if I hadn't known he was an actor."
