    Daytona 500

I'm not a fan of Nascar by any stretch, but 10 years ago I decided to start watching the Daytona 500. Its the 'Super Bowl' of Nascar and I've come to enjoy it. There aren't any other sports going on that I'm interested in. ie: Football is over, I hate the NBA and I don't follow golf. I love College b-ball but this year my team(Illinois) is horrible.

I'll be watching Sunday, however I guarantee this will be the only race I watch this year and every year. The rest of the time its rednecks driving fast and turning left. Sorry, thats the way I feel. But it doesn't matter, the ratings are thru the roof, Nascar doesn't need me.

Still, I am looking forward to it. I hope it doesn't rain.

    SHAKE AND BAKE!!

Rusty Wallace retired leaving me without a driver for quite a few races now. No matter, Rusty seemed to always hold back and settle for top ten. (least that's the way I saw it)

    Now...hmmmmmm

    Jr.

    Maybe Johnson or Stewart

    Dunno

If you have never been to a live race you will never really know what you are missing from the fun department. Races are loud, exciting and you are surrounded by friendly people having a ball. (lots of smokin' babes)

Go to one and tell me I'm wrong.

I live in Southern Illinois, near St. Louis. They built a track about 12 years ago(give or take). They had 1 Nascar race about a year after it opened. Unfortunately, they held it on the July 4th weekend. It was hotter than hell. The heat and humidity in St.Louis in July is unbearable.

So before the race, they tried to spray water on the track to keep it from breaking up in the heat/humidity. It didn't work, the track broke up and cars were crashing all over the place. All the drivers bitched and said we'll never race here again. They still haven't.

The track still has some Busch series races, at night. And they do a bunch of drag racing on the adjacent straight track.

I've never been to a race, but one of these days..................

All I know is, when it comes to Nascar, always bet on the white guy.

Watching the races on TV is like watching a Van Halen concert on YouTube!

                    That's right.
VanHalenette & I have only been to one race, but we will do Richmond again this year because it was the SHIT!

Being there offers sooo much more than watching it on a screen.

                      Righteous!

                          4th caution.

Pole sitter, ha, Johnson gets loose and wrecks. Still in it.

                          Just a handful to go...

I guess with all the camera angles and coverage it's pretty kick ass! 14 to go!
