I think Dave sounded great last night... it was a great show.. True to form, Eddie did blow the ICM solo.

Frankly, I've gotten to the point where I'll post Ed's solo. but don't want to watch it. I think he's hit a ceiling and don't know if he'll ever improve from here.

I agree... it's sad. He just can't play the parts cleanly anymore... Maybe it's a combo of wrist problems and years of boozin...
At this point, he could do away with the solo spot and just play the pieces as intros to songs like they were on the albums... How awesome would it be for Eddie to knock through a minute and a half of Eruption and then launch into YRGM?

Ed Part 2 was just...awful.

VAiN said something I've thought as well; just do brief solo spots as intros to other tunes that followed them on the records.

Sad to say, but Ed should go back and watch LWAN and look real carefully at his solo spot on THAT show; now THAT was a well-constructed solo spot with decent execution.

Yeah, they really were.. those 2 and Hot for Teacher were the stand-outs of the night for me. IMO, everything was great, a bit rushed, but still great.. except Eddie's solo.

I was at the show in Lauderdale and thought it wuz awesome, except for the lousy mixed, muddied sound !!!

My best friend, an extremely talented, experienced drummer, couldn't figure out why a million dollar band had such shitty sound ...

Anyway, I couldn't help but feel a lil sorry for Ed, his solo was uninspired and boring and I was baffled how he totally missed the "Ice Cream Man" solo !!!

Yeah I give up trying to figure Ed out !!! The playing on almost all the songs is pretty good but then his solo spot is just a mess night after night. He said in guitar world that he spends most of his time during the solo spot looking over at his guitar tech because he isn't sure what he should play next !!! WHAT A fucking JOKE !!! HEY ASSHOLE people are paying big money to see you !! FIGURE IT OUT.

why wouldn't he play the intro to Big Trouble(s), the solo to Sinners Swing etc.... he could mix it up...He's lazy minded, thinking everyone wants to hear Eruption...to tell you the truth, Eruption is the last thing I want him to play...But I'm a die hard...so I'm guessing most ppl that go to the concerts will be pissed if he doesn't play it. He's been having trouble with Cathedral since 84... Maybe its time for s few new solo's? Solo from "Beat it" would be cool.

As for Ice Cream Man....That solo is the first solo I learned...The first song I nailed was On Fire. Everything else is just pieces. Hey Ed's almost as good as me!!! LOL
