HENDRIX Drummer BUDDY MILES Dies At 60 - Feb. 27, 2008

Jonathan Cohen of Billboard.com reports: Buddy Miles, who co-founded and played drums in BAND OF GYPSYS with Jimi Hendrix, passed away yesterday (Feb. 26) in Austin, Texas, at the age of 60. A cause of death has yet to be announced.

Miles was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Omaha, Neb., and was introduced to music at a young age by his father, who played in a band called the BEBOPS. As a young man he also played with WILSON PICKETT, the DELFONICS and the INK SPOTS.

I loved Band of Gypsy's, moreso than anything else Hendrix had done.
Miles, Cox & Jimi were just so in the pocket & had such chemistry.

"Who Knows" still makes the fur rise, just the way they locked in together.

Power to soul....my God, talk about groove.

Saw him live a couple of years back...very nice guy, but he was VERY heavy, I wouldn't doubt heart problems as a result of his weight will probably be the cause.

Very sad news, his solo material was OUTSTANDING.
