The original to that video is freaking amazing. The first time I saw it I said "whoa."

I love how he uses pinch harmonics in there.

Who writes the better songs: Yngwie or Paul?

(I'm joking :D)

This joke is starting to wear thin, I reckon 2-3 more and I will
have laughed it out...

The Yngwie one was the best !

Paul, easily...well, at least when he's writing with Jeff Martin, Scott Travis and John Alderete...

Short of that, Yngwie. Paul's solo shit and the Mr. Big shit? Bleh.

Actaully, I don't care all that much for Racer X. Jeff Martin's voice annoys me.

Didn't he used to play drums for Badlands? He's a pretty solid drummer.

Yeah, he did play in Badlands (almost didn't recognize him because of the long hair he grew in back in the day after Racer X split). He also originally got the nod for Rob Halford's replacement in Judas Priest before they decided on Ripper.

I think his voice is an aquired taste - honestly, I love Racer X and I couldn't imagine anybody else singing for them...

"Getting Heavier" sucked monkey nuts though.

I may have to listen to something, then... :)

His "Away from Racer X" stuff has done very little to impress me, but I trust your earbuds...

The dude can be seriously jaw-dropping when he wants to...when I was a kid, one of my older guitarist buddies used to drive to PA to see his cover band...
Gilbert was still so young his parents had to accompany him to gigs...:D
I remember his first GP 'Spotlight' column...think he was like 15...

As far as instrumental "shred" stuff goes...this is damn good....

he's done some instructional stuff for GUITAR WORLD & the like as of late....very cool & has some really intersting ways of building musical chops....

He has this lick...which grew from playing this tiny "hammer on" riff before the fast part in SWEET LEAF.......HA!!!

I don't know how much my opinion means, but I love "Get out of my Yard", too.
