    ALAE Question

Did Jason Becker play ALL of the guitar solos on A Little Ain't Enough? Or were some of the solos played by the other guitar player? If some solos were played by the other guitarist which ones were they? Thanks.

A Little Ain't Enough was the third full-length album by David Lee Roth (of Van Halen), released in 1991. It was certified Gold on April 11, 1991. The album featured the lead guitar work of Jason Becker, a talented guitarist who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, aka Lou Gehrig's Disease) just a week after joining the band. He managed to finish recording the album, but was unable to tour in support of the album, as his condition left him with little strength in his hands.

There were two guitar players on that album. I believe the other guitarist was Steve Hunter. I would like to know if Steve Hunter played any of the solos on ALAE or if he just played rhythm guitar.

I thought that Becekr played only on the two last songs of the album he was credited for

Dan thanks for posting the writing credits. Perhaps Hunter played the solos on the songs he wrote and Becker played the solos on all of the other songs? I was listening to 40 Below last night and the solo did not sound like Becker. I think Becker and Hunter both played on every song. What is in question is who played the solos on which songs.

That's the first time I have ever heard anyone call the Great Steve Vai "The other guitar player", unless you mean there was some other guitar player who also played on that album.

EDIT: never mind, I should have read the whole thread first..

Whether all solos were written by Becker I don't know. The one in A lil aint enough sure sounds a lot like Vai. But I do beleive he recorded them all.

If you just open the leaflet, you can read:

                  Jason Becker: Lead Guitar
Steve Hunter: Rhythm Guitar & Slide

                  That's it.

Vai didn't play on ALAE, thank God.

I think that Becker played most of the leads but I would not be surprised if a solo or two was actually Hunter, especially on the songs Hunter wrote. I guess if you hear anything that sounds like slide it is Hunter.

Are there any video boots from the ALAE tour? I just looked on Youtube and there is no Dave live stuff from about 1989 to 2001.
